Le parole di Mike Maignan prima della finale di Coppa Italia

Conosci bene la squadra. Quanta voglia avete di vincere?

“Abbiamo tanta fame. Vogliamo portare il trofeo a casa, per tutti i milanisti. Sappiamo quanto conta giocare e vincere finali per il Milan.”

Com’è l’umore della squadra?

“Sappiamo che domani è un giorno importante, anche per la storia del club. Ma niente pressioni. Servono sangue freddo e concentrazione. Dobbiamo fare il nostro gioco, senza inventarci altro.”

La difesa a tre vi dà più sicurezza o è solo una questione di condizione fisica?

“Ho fiducia nei miei compagni, sia che si giochi a 2, 3 o 1. A volte il vento gira contro e si prende gol comunque. Ora stiamo bene, dobbiamo approfittarne.”

Domani può cambiare il morale della stagione?

“Il passato non conta. Conta solo domani. Non dobbiamo pensare a Roma, Monza o a tre giorni fa. Solo alla finale. Vincere sarebbe positivo, ma va conquistato domani.”

Ti manca solo questo trofeo italiano.

“Chi ha fame vuole vincere tutto. Ogni trofeo è importante.”

You know the team well. How much do you want to win?

“We’re really hungry. We want to bring this trophy home for all Milan fans. We know how important it is to play and win finals for Milan.”

What’s the mood in the team?

“We know tomorrow is a big day, also for the club’s history. But no pressure. We need to stay cool and focused. We just have to play our game, nothing more.”

Does the three-man defense give you more security, or is it more about your physical condition?

“I trust my teammates, whether we play with 2, 3, or 1 at the back. Sometimes the wind goes against you and you concede anyway. Right now we’re in a good moment, and we need to take advantage of it.”

Can tomorrow change the mood of the season?

“What happened before doesn’t matter. Only tomorrow matters. We can’t think about Roma, Monza, or three days ago. Just the final. Winning would be great, but we have to earn it tomorrow.”

This is the only Italian trophy you haven’t won.

“When you’re hungry to win, every trophy matters. I want them all.”
