Avverte più fascino o più il peso della finale?

“Il peso fa parte della storia del Milan. Nei grandi club è normale. Dobbiamo pensare solo a domani, a cosa fare, agli avversari, ai momenti diversi rispetto all’ultima sfida. Serve essere pronti.”

Da quando allena il Milan è il miglior momento?

“I risultati sono positivi, ma è normale. Conosco bene lo staff, la squadra è cresciuta individualmente e collettivamente. I primi tre mesi sono stati duri, ma ne abbiamo già parlato. Viviamo di risultati e vogliamo vincere per alzare un trofeo e giocare in Europa.”

Che effetto le fa tornare in questo stadio? Che cambi si aspetta rispetto a venerdì?

“Da calciatore mi ha dato tanto, ma è il passato. Domani servirà il massimo. Loro giocano ogni duello come fosse l’ultimo. Ogni partita è diversa, dovremo essere pronti a tutto. Loro cambieranno qualcosa, ma ci siamo preparati bene.”

Jovic o Gimenez?

“Non lo dico. Non l’ho detto nemmeno a loro. Anche loro hanno dubbi.”

Alzare la Coppa cambierebbe il senso della stagione?

“La stagione è fatta di momenti. Vincere sarebbe un bel premio per noi e per i tifosi. È un anno difficile, ma giochiamo questa finale con piacere, non con paura. Il gruppo è tranquillo, ma carico.”

Hai detto “Poi dopo parlo io”. Promessa o minaccia?

“Né l’una né l’altra.”

Torna Leao. È la carta in più? Come sta?

“Sta bene. Vedremo nell’allenamento. Anche loro recuperano giocatori. Le individualità contano, ma conta di più la squadra.”

Il gruppo è stato spesso al centro dell’attenzione. È cambiato qualcosa da Udine?

“Siamo sempre stati uniti. I risultati aiutano, ma il gruppo è sano. Le rimonte arrivano perché chi entra dà qualcosa in più. Questo mostra rispetto e unità. Spero di vedere tutto questo in campo domani.”

Il derby vi ha dato consapevolezza? Quanto manca per il vertice?

“Anche contro la Roma abbiamo fatto bene. Non siamo stati costanti, ma non servono scuse. I tifosi vogliono risultati. Il Milan ha una storia pesante, c’è sempre pressione. Ma dobbiamo accettarla e concentrarci sul lavoro. Bologna è forte e ha un allenatore esperto. Sarà dura.”

Hai vinto tanto in Portogallo. Ti aiuta?

“Ho vinto tre Coppe del Portogallo e una di Lega. Ma il passato non conta. Conta solo domani.”

Sembri più sereno. Perché?

“Alleno da 13 anni. Ogni partita ha pressione. Le finali danno adrenalina. Non è questione di sembrare tranquillo o meno, sono così. Non c’è paura, c’è voglia di competere e di vincere.”

Fofana?

“Vedremo domani. Ha un problema al piede, deciderà il medico.”

Conceição’s words before the Coppa Italia final

Do you feel more excitement or pressure about the final?

“Pressure is part of Milan’s history. It’s normal in big clubs. We just need to focus on tomorrow, on what to do, on the opponent, and on what will be different from the last match. We need to be ready.”

Is this your best moment since you started coaching Milan?

“Results are good, but that’s normal. I know the staff well, and the team has grown both individually and as a group. The first three months were tough, but we’ve already talked about that. We live by results and we want to win a trophy and play in Europe.”

How does it feel to be back in this stadium? What changes do you expect compared to Friday?

“As a player, this stadium gave me a lot, but that’s the past. Tomorrow we need to give everything. They fight for every ball like it’s the last. Every game is different, we must be ready for anything. They’ll make some changes, but we’ve prepared well.”

Jovic or Gimenez?

“I’m not saying. I haven’t told them either. They also have doubts.”

Would winning the cup change the meaning of the season?

“The season is made of moments. Winning would be a great reward for us and for the fans. It’s been a tough year, but we play this final with joy, not fear. The group is calm but motivated.”

You said ‘Then I’ll speak’. Promise or threat?

“Neither.”

Leao is back. Is he your extra card? How is he?

“He’s fine. We’ll see in training. They’re also getting some players back. Individual talent matters, but the team matters more.”

The group has often been in focus. Has anything changed since Udine?

“We’ve always been united. Results help, but this is a healthy group. Comebacks happen because those who come on give something extra. That shows respect and unity. I hope we’ll see all that tomorrow on the pitch.”

Did the derby give you confidence? How far are you from the top?

“We did well against Roma too. We haven’t been consistent, but that’s no excuse. Fans want results. Milan has a big history, there’s always pressure. But we have to accept that and stay focused on our work. Bologna is strong and has an experienced coach. It’ll be tough.”

You won a lot in Portugal. Does that help?

“I won three Portuguese Cups and one League Cup. But the past doesn’t count. Only tomorrow matters.”

You seem calmer. Why?

“I’ve been coaching for 13 years. Every match has pressure. Finals bring adrenaline. It’s not about seeming calm or not, this is how I am. There’s no fear, just the desire to compete and win.”

“We’ll see tomorrow. He has a foot problem, the doctor will decide.”
