Alla vigilia della sfida Genoa-Milan, ecco le dichiarazioni di Mister Conceicao.

Che tipo di gara sarà quella di domani contro il Genoa?
*«Il nostro approccio rimane sempre lo stesso: pensiamo a una partita per volta, concentrandoci su ciò che possiamo perfezionare per diventare ogni giorno più solidi. Domani il nostro unico pensiero è il Genoa, poi ci dedicheremo alle due sfide con il *Bologna».

Ha trovato una formazione affidabile. Qual è la situazione di Jovic?
*«La continuità che cerchiamo con il nuovo assetto tattico richiede lavoro costante: sia in fase difensiva, sia in attacco, sia nell’equilibrio complessivo. I giocatori iniziano a comprendere meglio cosa vogliamo a livello di squadra. Poi ci sono sempre imprevisti: domani, per esempio, potrebbe esserci qualche sorpresa come accaduto a Venezia con Jovic. Il mio pensiero è chiaro: considero tutti importanti, ho fiducia in ciascuno di loro. Jovic sta meglio, si è allenato tre volte con noi. Purtroppo Abraham si è fermato per un problema fisico, insieme a Bondo e *Sottil».

State pensando di gestire le forze in Serie A per la Coppa Italia?
«Non c’è nulla da gestire. Ogni giorno qui c’è la responsabilità di rappresentare un club come il Milan. Il campionato è quello che è, ma dobbiamo dimostrare qualità ogni singolo giorno, essere diversi rispetto a certe prestazioni passate. Questo è il nostro obiettivo. Quello che fanno gli altri allenatori non mi interessa. Ho molto rispetto per Capello, lui ha le sue idee e io le mie. Noi non gestiamo, anche perché le partite non dipendono solo dagli undici titolari. Pensiamo sempre una partita alla volta, questo è il nostro principio».

Theo e Leao sono rientrati?
«Tutti riconoscono il valore dei giocatori del Milan. Serve continuità. Ma stiamo parlando di due che hanno già conquistato uno scudetto con questo club: sono tra i migliori al mondo. A volte le cose non vanno per il verso giusto, ma conta lo stato attuale: stanno bene, conto su di loro come su tutti».

Walker sarà usato come braccetto o centrocampista laterale?
«Può ricoprire entrambe le posizioni. È una risorsa preziosa che conosca bene i due ruoli. Sta bene fisicamente, è pronto a dare il suo contributo».

Chi è favorito al momento tra Gimenez e Jovic?
«Entrambi hanno qualità enormi. Sta a me decidere chi schierare, o se usarli insieme: dipende dalle circostanze. Sono diversi, ma entrambi utilissimi. Abbiamo fiducia in loro. Nel calcio può cambiare tutto da un momento all’altro. Pensiamo partita per partita, vedremo domani sera. E sì, io so già chi giocherà, ma non ve lo svelo ora».

Qual è il ruolo ideale per Alex Jimenez?
«Ha grandi qualità. Deve migliorare in concentrazione e continuità. È ancora giovane, e su questi aspetti deve crescere. Tecnicamente e tatticamente ha già una buona comprensione. È un bravo calciatore e deve proseguire nel suo percorso, migliorando ogni giorno, non solo in campo ma anche fuori, per diventare un professionista di alto livello».

Qual è il miglior ruolo per Loftus-Cheek?
«È un giocatore di grande talento. A mio avviso, il suo ruolo naturale è da box-to-box. Poi tutto dipende dalla partita e dalla strategia. Ha forza fisica, arriva bene in area, e tecnicamente è molto valido. Sta crescendo giorno dopo giorno, contiamo su di lui per questo finale».

Come mantenere i clean sheet in trasferta?
«Serve lavoro, non basta il sistema. È uno sforzo collettivo: stiamo lavorando per garantire continuità. In attacco la squadra ha sempre creato tanto, ma ci è mancata solidità difensiva e equilibrio. Stiamo lavorando su entrambi i fronti, perché anche gli errori individuali a certi livelli non si possono permettere. Il nostro compito è migliorare la squadra».

C’è rammarico, rabbia o delusione per la posizione in classifica?
«Sì, per tutto».

What kind of match will tomorrow’s game against Genoa be?
*«Our approach remains the same: we take it one match at a time, focusing on what we can improve to become stronger each day. Tomorrow, we only think about Genoa, and after that, the two matches against *Bologna».

Have you found a reliable lineup? How is Jovic doing?
*«The consistency we aim for with the new tactical setup requires daily work: in defense, attack, and overall balance. The players are starting to better understand what we want from the team. Of course, there are always setbacks: tomorrow, for instance, something unexpected could happen, like with Jovic in Venice. My feeling is clear: I consider everyone important, I rely on all of them. Jovic is feeling better, he’s trained three times with us. Unfortunately, Abraham is sidelined due to a physical issue, along with Bondo and *Sottil».

Are you managing the squad in Serie A with the Coppa Italia in mind?
«There’s nothing to manage. Every day we work here, we have the responsibility of representing a club like Milan. The league is what it is, but we need to show quality every day, be different from some of our past performances. That’s our goal. What other coaches do doesn’t concern me. I have great respect for Capello, he has his views, and I have mine. We’re not managing; besides, matches aren’t just about the eleven starters. We take it one game at a time, that’s our mindset».

Have Theo and Leao returned?
«Everyone acknowledges the quality of Milan’s players. What’s needed is consistency. But we’re talking about two players who’ve already won a Scudetto with this club: they’re among the best in the world. Sometimes things don’t go as they should, but what matters is the present: they’re doing well, and I count on them like I do on everyone else».

Will Walker play as a center-back or a wide midfielder?
«He can play both positions. It’s a great advantage that he knows both roles. He’s in good shape, ready to help the team».

At the moment, who’s ahead between Gimenez and Jovic?
«They both have tremendous qualities. It’s up to me to decide who plays, or if they’ll play together, depending on the situation. They’re different, but both valuable. We trust them. In football, everything can change in an instant. We’re taking it game by game, we’ll see what happens tomorrow night. And yes, I know who will start, but I won’t reveal it now».

What’s the ideal role for Alex Jimenez?
«He has great potential. He needs to improve his focus and consistency. He’s young, and on those fronts, there’s room to grow. Technically and tactically, he understands well. He’s a good player and must continue on his path, improving daily, both on and off the field, to become a top-level professional».

What’s the best role for Loftus-Cheek?
«He’s very talented. In my view, he’s a natural box-to-box. Then again, it depends on the match and strategy. He’s physically strong, arrives well in the opponent’s area, and is technically very good. He’s improving every day, and we count on him for this season’s final stretch».

How do you maintain clean sheets away from home?
«It takes work; the system alone isn’t enough. It’s a team effort: we’re working to maintain consistency. Offensively, the team has always created plenty, but we’ve lacked defensive solidity and balance. We’re addressing both aspects because individual mistakes at this level are unacceptable. Our job is to make the team better».

Is there regret, anger, or disappointment about the league position?
«Yes, a bit of everything».
