VENDITA DI SAN SIRO: CI SIAMO. I PROSSIMI PASSI

L’attenzione calcistica è puntata su San Siro, ormai vicino alla vendita a Inter e Milan. Una volta approvata la delibera comunale, si apriranno gli interrogativi principali: quando sarà demolito il Meazza, con quali tempi e se qualcuno proverà a fermare il percorso. Il rogito va concluso entro il 10 novembre: oltre quella data scatterà il vincolo sul secondo anello deciso dalla Soprintendenza e, se lo stadio resterà pubblico, non potrà più essere abbattuto.

Nel 2026 Inter e Milan continueranno a giocare nello stadio attuale, che ospiterà anche l’apertura delle Olimpiadi invernali. Intanto gli studi Manica e Foster+Partners prepareranno il progetto del nuovo impianto da circa 71.500 posti, che dovrà superare una conferenza di servizi con enti locali e regionali. Gli oppositori presenteranno ricorsi e la questione finirà probabilmente in tribunale.

I lavori per il nuovo stadio nell’area parcheggi del Meazza dovrebbero iniziare nella prima metà del 2027. Per qualche anno convivranno il vecchio stadio in attività e quello nuovo in costruzione, con il tunnel Patroclo spostato e i parcheggi riorganizzati. L’inaugurazione è stimata intorno al 2031.

La demolizione di San Siro partirebbe dopo l’apertura del nuovo impianto e durerebbe circa dodici mesi. "La demolizione si effettua con macchine meccaniche…", ha spiegato Roberto Spagnolo alla Gazzetta, indicando un processo dall’alto verso il basso: prima il tetto, poi terzo, secondo e primo anello. Rimarrà solo una parte dell’angolo Sud-Est.

Resta aperta la questione legata a Euro 2032, che Italia e Turchia ospiteranno insieme. L’unico stadio oggi conforme agli standard è lo Juventus Stadium di Torino: San Siro non rispetta i criteri Uefa, mentre il nuovo impianto sì. Anche per questo gli occhi di Cerefin sul Consiglio comunale erano particolarmente attenti.

San Siro is drawing major attention as the sale to Inter and Milan nears. Once the City Council approves the deal, key questions will arise: when will the Meazza be demolished, on what timeline, and will anyone try to stop the process? The deed must be signed by November 10; after that date, a preservation order on the second tier will take effect, and if the stadium is still public, demolition will be blocked.

In 2026, Inter and Milan will continue playing at the current venue, which will also host the Winter Olympics opening ceremony. Meanwhile, Manica and Foster+Partners will draft the design for the new 71,500-seat stadium, which must pass a services conference involving local and regional authorities. Opponents will file appeals, and the matter is expected to move to court.

Construction of the new facility in the Meazza parking area is planned for the first half of 2027. For a few years, the old stadium will operate while the new one rises nearby, with the Patroclo tunnel relocated and parking reorganized. The opening is estimated around 2031.

Demolition of San Siro would start after the new venue opens and take roughly twelve months. "Demolition is carried out with mechanical machinery…", explained Roberto Spagnolo to the Gazzetta, describing a top-down process: first the roof, then the third, second and first tiers. Only part of the South-East corner would remain.

One related issue is Euro 2032, co-hosted by Italy and Turkey. The only stadium currently meeting full standards is the Juventus Stadium in Turin: San Siro does not comply with Uefa requirements, while the new venue would. This is why Cerefin followed the City Council session so closely.
