SALA: "IL RISCHIO MILAN A SAN DONATO È ALTISSIMO. SAREBBE IL PEGGIO POSSIBILE"

Ospite al Forum di Repubblica a Milano, il Sindaco di Milano Beppe Sala si è così espresso sulla questione del nuovo stadio: "Se non riusciamo a fare lo stadio, il Milan andrà a San Donato e l'Inter a Rozzano. Il comune si ritroverà San Siro e questo, per evitare problemi con la Corte dei Conti, lo devi mettere a frutto. E a quel punto altroché i concerti di oggi. Se non riusciamo a fare lo stadio a San Siro, o lo vendi a chi fa concerti, o se ne faranno a manetta. Per i cittadini del quartiere avere San Siro senza più calcio è il peggio che ci possa essere".

È la volta buona per il nuovo stadio a San Siro?

Il rischio che il Milan vada a San Donato è altissimo, altissimo, perché ha acquisito quell'area investendo alcune decine di milioni di euro. Per chi va allo stadio da 60 anni San Siro è San Siro: io non credo che i tifosi sarebbero contenti di uno stadio a San Donato. Dal mio punto di vista posso dire che non è vero che i valori espressi dall'Agenzia dell'Entrate non siano in linea con le regole del Comune, perché queste ultime sono legate a cosa si fa: lì sarà residenziale o no? La risposta è no".

La pista San Siro, però, non è abbandonata.

"Io penso - ha spiegato Sala - che ce la faremo sapendo che avremo diverse ostilità e ricorsi. Sia chiaro che se non riusciamo entro ottobre poi è difficile che si faccia".

C'è la possibilità che l'Inter acquisti San Siro da sola? Sala non lascia dubbi:

"No".

Speaking at the Repubblica Forum in Milan, the city’s mayor, Beppe Sala, shared his thoughts on the new stadium issue:
"If we can't manage to build the new stadium, Milan will move to San Donato and Inter to Rozzano. The city will be left with San Siro, and to avoid problems with the Court of Auditors, it would have to be put to good use. At that point, forget today's concerts — it would have to be used constantly. If we can’t build the stadium at San Siro, you either sell it to someone who organizes concerts, or it will be used non-stop for events. For residents in the neighborhood, having San Siro without football is the worst possible outcome."

Is this finally the right time for a new stadium at San Siro?
"The risk of Milan moving to San Donato is extremely high — very high — because the club has acquired that land, investing several tens of millions of euros. For someone who has been going to the stadium for 60 years, San Siro is San Siro. I don’t think fans would be happy with a stadium in San Donato. From my point of view, I can say it’s not true that the valuations expressed by the Revenue Agency are inconsistent with the Municipality’s rules, because those rules depend on what’s going to be built. Will that area be residential or not? The answer is no."

But the San Siro option hasn’t been abandoned?
"I think," Sala explained, "that we’ll make it, even knowing we’ll face several objections and legal challenges. Let me be clear: if we don’t get it done by October, it’s going to be very difficult to make it happen afterward."

Is there a chance Inter could buy San Siro on their own?
"No."
