SACCHI: "INTER CON PIÙ QUALITÀ, MA IL MILAN SI ESALTA ANCORA"

Così Arrigo Sacchi, ex tecnico rossonero, sulle colonne della Gazzetta dello Sport:

"Mi aspettavo una sfida molto aperta per quanto riguarda il risultato. Innanzitutto perché il derby di San Siro sfugge sempre a qualsiasi pronostico, e tutto diventa possibile, e poi perché in una partita secca, di solito, non si notano le differenze tecniche e atletiche, ma si vede maggiormente la foga agonistica, lo spirito di gruppo, la capacità di gestione della gara. L’aspetto psicologico, insomma, in un derby è fondamentale. Tant’è vero che il Milan, pur essendo inferiore all’Inter come dimostra la classifica, su quattro partite disputate contro i nerazzurri in questa stagione ne ha vinte due e pareggiate altrettante. Ciò significa che, in queste occasioni, i rossoneri sono sempre stati in grado di azzerare il gap con gli avversari e di mettersi al loro stesso livello, se non addirittura in posizione di superiorità. A testimonianza di questa mia impressione, e cioè che il Milan è sempre pericoloso nel derby, è arrivato il gol di Abraham proprio all’inizio del secondo tempo. Bella l’azione dei rossoneri, un po’ troppo statici i difensori di Inzaghi che non hanno aggredito l’avversario. A rimettere tutto a posto, e quindi a far sì che l’equilibrio fosse il grande protagonista di questa sfida, ecco la rete di Calhanoglu, molto bella per esecuzione.

Credo che il risultato sia giusto e credo anche che le possibilità di arrivare in finale siano da dividere in parti uguali tra Inter e Milan. Non mi sembra che si possa parlare di una favorita. Diciamo: cinquanta per cento Inter e cinquanta per cento Milan. Non è che non mi voglio sbilanciare, la verità è che non riesco a immaginare come possa andare a finire questo derby di semifinale perché l’Inter ha più qualità, sia fisiche sia tecniche, però il Milan ha dimostrato sul campo di poter arginare i rivali. Nella ripresa, ad esempio, ho apprezzato il sacrificio di Leao e Hernandez, due che non sempre hanno brillato per le corse in aiuto dei compagni. Vuol dire che l’aria del derby li ha stimolati".

"I expected a very open match in terms of the result. First of all, because the San Siro derby always defies any predictions—everything becomes possible. And secondly, because in a one-off game, technical and athletic differences usually fade, while competitive spirit, team unity, and game management become more evident. In short, the psychological aspect is fundamental in a derby.

So much so that Milan, despite being inferior to Inter as the standings show, has won two and drawn the other two of the four matches played against the Nerazzurri this season. This means that, on these occasions, the Rossoneri have always been able to bridge the gap with their rivals and reach their level, if not even surpass them. To confirm this impression—that Milan is always dangerous in the derby—came Abraham's goal right at the start of the second half. It was a great move by the Rossoneri, while Inzaghi’s defenders were a bit too static and failed to press the opponent.

Then came Calhanoglu’s goal, beautifully executed, which restored balance and ensured that equilibrium remained the defining feature of this contest.

I believe the result was fair, and I also think that the chances of reaching the final are evenly split between Inter and Milan. I don't see a clear favorite. Let’s say: fifty percent Inter, fifty percent Milan. It’s not that I don't want to take a stance—the truth is, I genuinely can't predict how this semifinal derby will end. Inter has greater physical and technical quality, but Milan has shown on the pitch that they can contain their rivals.

For example, in the second half, I appreciated the effort of Leão and Hernández, two players who don’t always stand out for tracking back to help their teammates. It means that the derby atmosphere truly inspired them."
