Mister Sergio Conceiçao ha parlato a DAZN al termine di Venezia-Milan 0-2. Queste le parole del tecnico portoghese:

Oggi un Milan che è partito forte, poi ha avuto un calo ma ha mostrato grande volontà:

“Analisi corretta. Non era semplice mantenere la concentrazione dopo il derby, quella concentrazione competitiva che ci è mancata in passato. Affrontare una squadra come il Venezia, che pressa tanto e gioca in modo diretto, non era affatto semplice. Inoltre, anche il contesto post-derby poteva distrarci. Sono contento della voglia di ottenere i tre punti. È sempre particolare giocare qui, c’è la barca, mancano solo le palme (sorride, ndr). Vincere oggi era fondamentale per dare continuità alla semifinale di Coppa, era molto importante per noi.”

Quanta voglia c’è di conquistare il secondo titolo stagionale? Fofana ha detto che siete l’unica squadra a poter vincere due trofei italiani:

“Sinceramente non sono del tutto d'accordo con Fofana: essere nei primi quattro resta fondamentale per il Milan. Gli obiettivi qui sono chiari. Certo, in una stagione difficile come questa, vincere qualcosa conta tanto. È importante trasmettere un'immagine diversa rispetto a quella data nei mesi passati. Stiamo finalmente trovando l’equilibrio tecnico di cui parlavamo. Anche Di Francesco ha riconosciuto la nostra forza offensiva e il miglioramento difensivo. Non sono un grande estimatore di questo modulo, ma devo adattarmi sia al campionato italiano che ai giocatori che ho.”

Come sta Gimenez dopo il gol? Il passaggio di Reijnders sembrava una carezza del gruppo per lui:

“Sa di non essere al massimo. A fine partita mi ha detto che non era soddisfatto della sua prestazione, ma il gol è stato fondamentale. È importante concentrarsi sulle cose positive e lavorare su ciò che deve migliorare. Conosce le sue qualità e noi crediamo molto in lui.”

Le gerarchie difensive sono ormai definite?

“Quando preparo una partita penso a chi può aiutarmi a vincere fin da subito. Ma per me il gruppo e la panchina sono fondamentali. I ragazzi sono bravissimi anche da questo punto di vista, a volte forse anche troppo simpatici.”

Conceiçao vuole restare al Milan?

“In questo momento non conta Conceiçao, conta il Milan. Lavoro duramente ogni giorno con il mio staff. È normale perdere alcune partite, ma stiamo lavorando per non ripetere certi errori. Tra circa un mese dirò cosa voglio fare. Forse andrò in vacanza per dieci anni in Algarve, non lo so (sorride, ndr).”

“Correct analysis. It wasn’t easy to stay focused after the derby, a focus we’ve lacked recently. Facing a team like Venezia that presses a lot and plays direct football wasn’t simple. Plus, the post-derby atmosphere could have distracted us. I’m happy about the team's will to get the three points. It's always special playing here: there's a boat, only the palm trees are missing (smiles, editor’s note). Winning today was crucial to give continuity to our Coppa semifinal victory, very important for us.”

How much desire is there to win a second title this season? Fofana mentioned that Milan could be the only team to win two Italian trophies:

“Honestly, I don’t fully agree with Fofana: finishing top four remains crucial for Milan. Here the objectives are clear. Sure, in a difficult season like this one, winning something matters a lot. It's important to project a different image compared to past months. We’re finally finding the technical balance we always talked about. Even Di Francesco acknowledged our offensive strength and defensive improvements. I’m not a huge fan of this formation, but I must adapt to Serie A and to the players I have.”

How is Gimenez after scoring? Reijnders' pass felt like a group hug for him:

“He knows he’s not at his best. Right after the game, he told me he wasn’t satisfied with his performance, but the goal was crucial. The key is to focus on positives and continue improving. He knows his qualities, and we trust him a lot.”

Are defensive hierarchies now set?

“When preparing a match, I think about the players who can help me win from the start. But for me, the bench and the squad are vital. The guys are excellent in that sense, sometimes maybe even too friendly.”

Does Conceiçao want to stay at Milan?

“At this moment, Conceiçao doesn’t matter, Milan does. I work hard every day with my staff. It’s normal to lose some games, but we are working to avoid repeating those mistakes. In about a month, I’ll say what I want to do. Maybe I’ll go on a ten-year vacation in Algarve, I don't know (smiles, editor’s note).”
