POST MILAN INTER. CONCEICAO: "RISULTATO GIUSTO. VOGLIAMO LA FINALE"

Queste le parole di mister Conceicao al termine del derby d'andata:

Un pareggio che tiene aperto tutto. Quanto ci credete? Risultato giusto? “Siamo a metà. Noi adesso aspettiamo questa gara di ritorno, c’è la possibilità di andare a Roma per disputare una finale che vogliamo tanto. Ringrazio il pubblico che è stato fantastico. È stata una gara equilibrata contro un avversario difficile che ci conosce molto bene. Dovevamo fare una partita intelligente nella nostra organizzazione difensiva: l’abbiamo fatto e sono molto contento”.

Quindi bicchiere mezzo pieno: “Anche noi abbiamo avuto occasioni. Non ho visto l’Inter arrivare come fa normalmente. Sono bravi sulle palle inattive, ci hanno creato qualche problema nel primo tempo. Nel primo tempo abbiamo avuto un paio di occasioni, nel secondo tempo anche. Il risultato è giusto, partita molto equilibrata. Sono contento di questo approccio. Già nel secondo tempo a Napoli avevamo fatto bene, dobbiamo continuare a lavorare per arrivare a questo obiettivo che abbiamo: arrivare in finale di Coppa Italia e vincere”.

Avete cambiato poche volte il campo velocemente… “Era preparata. Loro quando sono più bassi non è facile con i centrocampisti che devono coprire tutta l’ampiezza: se lo facevamo velocemente potevamo trovare la superiorità numerica. Abbiamo creato difficoltà con Theo e Walker alle spalle dei centrocampisti”.

Come mai in questi quattro mesi non riuscite a dare continuità? Perché ci sono troppo alti e bassi? “Sono tre mesi che sono qua. Piccolo dettaglio. Sono arrivato qua e abbiamo fatto due partite, una con la Juve e una contro l’Inter, dopo quando siamo arrivati qua abbiamo cominciato una serie di partite ogni tre giorni. Da due settimane ho la squadra un po’ più libera per lavorare e trovare le cose giuste per l’equilibrio di squadra. So che può sembrare una scusa ma non è una scusa. Stiamo lavorando sul campo, non solo in video, per poter dare risposte come quella di oggi o come il secondo tempo di Napoli. Niente di fantastico, ma siamo stati una squadra molto più compatta come piace a me”.

A draw that keeps everything open. How much do you believe in it? Fair result?
"We're halfway there. Now we wait for the return leg, there's a chance to go to Rome to play in a final that we really want. I thank the fans, they were fantastic. It was a balanced game against a tough opponent that knows us very well. We needed to play an intelligent game in our defensive organization: we did that, and I'm very happy."

So, half full glass?
"We also had chances. I didn't see Inter attack as they usually do. They're good on set pieces; they caused us some problems in the first half. In the first half, we had a couple of chances, and in the second half, also. The result is fair, a very balanced game. I'm happy with this approach. We did well in the second half against Napoli, we need to keep working to achieve this goal we have: to reach the Coppa Italia final and win."

You didn’t change sides quickly that often…
"It was planned. When they are lower, it's not easy for midfielders who have to cover all the width. If we did it quickly, we could find numerical superiority. We created problems with Theo and Walker behind their midfielders."

Why can't you find consistency in these four months? Why are there so many ups and downs?
"I've been here for three months. Small detail. I arrived here, and we played two games, one against Juve and one against Inter. After that, we started a series of matches every three days. For the past two weeks, I’ve had the team a bit freer to work and find the right balance for the team. I know it might sound like an excuse, but it's not an excuse. We're working on the field, not just in videos, to give responses like the one today or like the second half against Napoli. Nothing fantastic, but we were much more compact as a team, just how I like it."
