Mister Sergio Conceição ha parlato ai microfoni di Mediaset dopo il netto successo per 0-3 del Milan sull’Inter, che vale ai rossoneri l’accesso alla finale di Coppa Italia. Ecco le dichiarazioni dell’allenatore portoghese:

Possiamo parlare di capolavoro? Ci hai stupito con la mossa Jovic…
“La sensazione prima della sfida con l’Atalanta era buona, poi ogni partita fa storia a sé. I dettagli fanno la differenza. Mi è piaciuto l’atteggiamento, la compattezza e la solidità. Abbiamo sofferto più del previsto nei primi minuti e potevamo gestire meglio le ripartenze. Durante l’intervallo abbiamo lavorato su due o tre aspetti e il secondo tempo è stato di altissimo livello. Sono soddisfatto, anche perché in campionato non sempre abbiamo mostrato questo tipo di prestazione. La qualità tecnica va sempre accompagnata da umiltà, spirito di sacrificio e fame di vittoria, elementi che oggi ho visto in ogni giocata.”

Con la Coppa Italia sente che può restare?
“Non conta Conceição, conta vincere contro il Venezia, e poi affrontare la finale con gioia. Non è certo che l’abbiamo già vinta. Sono lo stesso allenatore di due giorni fa: non è tutto bello o tutto brutto. Serve equilibrio, anche dal punto di vista emotivo, non solo tattico.”

Il momento di Jovic:
“Jovic si sta allenando benissimo da tre o quattro settimane. Ha anche perso qualche chilo, cosa fondamentale. Ci ha dato esattamente quello che cercavamo per questa partita. Non dà punti di riferimento ai difensori e si intende bene coi centrocampisti. Lo volevamo come sponda per liberare i corridoi esterni. Ho fiducia in tutti: in base alla partita, potranno giocare Abraham o Santi. A Udine, per esempio, Tammy è entrato e ha dato una risposta importante. In campionato, purtroppo, non sempre riusciamo a replicare quello che prepariamo. Ma oggi è stato diverso.”

Pulisic ha dato tanto equilibrio...
“Si è sacrificato per il gruppo e ha disputato una buona gara. Dovevamo coprire meglio il centro, e lui con Jovic ha lavorato bene su Asllani. Ha corso tanto, ha aiutato la squadra. Certo, gli manca un po’ di brillantezza con la palla, ma gli equilibri contano. Quando stai troppo tempo senza possesso, per giocatori come Puli diventa più complicato. Ma ho massima fiducia in lui.”

Come si sente dopo questo 3-0?
“Una sensazione mista. Amo questo sport e lo vivo intensamente. Forse anche troppo. Lo porto anche a casa, e mia moglie non è sempre felice di questo… ma ora sì. Magari prima del match col Venezia sarò più tranquillo. Ma resto con i piedi per terra: non abbiamo ancora vinto nulla. Dobbiamo concludere il campionato in modo diverso, anche dal punto di vista dell’immagine. Voglio vedere una squadra vera. Ci sono state partite in cui non ci siamo riconosciuti, perché abbiamo più qualità di quella che abbiamo fatto vedere.”

Coach Sergio Conceição spoke to Mediaset after Milan’s dominant 0-3 win over Inter, a result that sends the Rossoneri to the Coppa Italia final. Here are the Portuguese manager’s comments:

Can we talk about a masterpiece? You surprised everyone with the Jovic move…
"The feeling before the match against Atalanta was good, but every game is different. The small details matter. I liked the attitude, the compactness, and the solidity. We struggled more than we wanted to early on and could’ve done better on the counterattacks. We worked on two or three things and had a top-level second half. I’m happy because we haven’t always shown this in the league. Technical quality must go hand-in-hand with humility, this mindset, and the desire to win that I saw in every play today."

With the Coppa Italia, do you feel you could stay?
"Conceição doesn’t matter. What matters is winning against Venezia, and when the final comes, we’ll be happy to play it. It’s not like we’ve already won it. I’m the same coach I was two days ago — it’s not all wonderful or all terrible. You have to find balance, emotionally as well, not just as a team."

Jovic’s moment:
"Jovic has been training very well for the last 3-4 weeks. He even lost a few kilos, which was key. He gave us exactly what we wanted for this match. He doesn’t give defenders clear reference points and links up well with the midfielders. We wanted him to act as a pivot to open up the wide channels. I have full confidence in everyone: depending on the game, maybe Abraham or Santi will play. At Udine, for example, Tammy came on and gave an important response. In the league, unfortunately, what we prepare doesn’t always come through in the match — but today was different."

Pulisic brought a lot of balance…
"He sacrificed himself for the team and had a good game. We needed to balance the central channel, and he, along with Jovic, was key in limiting Asllani. He ran a lot and gave everything for the team. Of course, he lacks a bit of sharpness on the ball, but there are balance issues… When we spend long periods without possession, it becomes harder for players like Puli. But I have great trust in him."

How do you feel after this 3-0?
"Mixed emotions. I’m passionate about this sport. I probably suffer more than others. Even at home, I bring football with me — and my wife’s not always happy about that… though tonight, she is. Maybe before Venezia, I’ll be a bit calmer. But I’m staying grounded — we haven’t won anything yet. We need to end the league in a way that reflects a better image. I want to see a real ‘team’. There were league matches where we didn’t recognize ourselves, because we have more quality than what we’ve shown."
