Il Milan parte male nella sua prima gara ufficiale, mostrando un primo tempo disordinato e pieno di errori, soprattutto in difesa.

Il Torino passa in vantaggio al 30' grazie a un autogol di Thiaw, che sbaglia il controllo su un colpo di testa di Bellanova, mettendo la palla nella propria rete.

Dopo l'autogol, il Torino prende fiducia e sfiora il raddoppio con Zapata, con Maignan si supera con una parata decisiva.

Poco dopo, Leao ha una grande occasione in contropiede, ma sciupa tutto davanti a Milinkovic-Savic facendosi fermare dal portiere granata.

Al 44', è ancora Maignan a salvare il Milan, respingendo una conclusione a botta sicura. Nel finale del primo tempo, Chukwueze tenta la fortuna da lontano, ma il tiro finisce largo.

All'89', Morata devia un tiro di Reijnders e segna il gol che riapre la partita. Nei minuti di recupero, al 95', Okafor riesce a trovare il pareggio con una girata in area, fissando il risultato sul 2-2 nella prima partita di campionato contro il Torino.
