In un freddo mercoledì di dicembre, il Milan si impone per 2-1 sullo Stella Rossa conquistando i tre punti e la quarta vittoria (di fila) in questa Champions League.

Una partita che al netto delle diverse forze in campo si è rivelata una sfida molto complicata, sia dal punto di vista fisico sia soprattutto da quello mentale.

Oltre al forfait di Pulisic infatti, il Milan alla mezzora perde in un paio di minuti sia Loftus-Cheek sia Alvaro Morata. Il primo è costretto a chiedere il cambio a causa di un risentimento all’adduttore destro, il secondo invece per via un risentimento al flessore sinistro.

Con la partita ancora bloccata sullo 0-0, è Rafa Leao pochi minuti dopo a dare la scossa ai rossoneri portando in vantaggio il Milan. Il talento portoghese raccoglie un assist al bacio di Fofana, insaccando una non facile rete che porta la squadra in vantaggio proprio a pochi minuti dall’intervallo.

Il secondo tempo riparte con lo stesso scarso ritmo che aveva contraddistinto i primi 45 minuti, con un Milan opaco e decisamente poco brillante. Milan che infatti consente allo Stella Rossa di trovare al 68mo il gol del pareggio, e che nonostante il gol dell'1-1 non riesce nè a reagire nè a cambiare ritmo.

La partita scorre così fino all’82mo, con i rossoneri totalmente innocui e che danno l’idea di non essere in grado di trovare la scossa per riprendersi in mano il match.

All’83mo però entra Francesco Camarda, e qualcosa cambia. Punizione del limite, Checco spizza di testa tentando il pallonetto sul portiere. Traversa, con un Abraham ben posizionato che a due passi insacca il gol vittoria del 2-1.

San Siro esulta con i suoi 60 mila spettatori, tra cui due speciali ex come Thiago Silva e Andriy Shevchenko. Il Milan torna a vincere quattro partite di fila in Champions. Non accadeva dal 2005. E quell’anno fu finale.

Despite the disparity in quality between the teams, the match proved to be a tough challenge, both physically and—most notably—mentally.

In addition to Pulisic's absence, Milan suffered further setbacks in the first half-hour, losing both Loftus-Cheek and Álvaro Morata within a matter of minutes. Loftus-Cheek had to be substituted due to a strain in his right adductor, while Morata exited with discomfort in his left flexor.

With the game still locked at 0-0, it was Rafa Leão who sparked life into the Rossoneri just a few minutes later, putting Milan ahead. The Portuguese talent capitalized on a pinpoint assist from Fofana, scoring a difficult goal to give his team the lead just before halftime.

The second half began at the same sluggish pace that had marked the first 45 minutes, with a lackluster and uninspired Milan. This allowed Red Star to equalize in the 68th minute. Even after conceding, Milan struggled to respond or shift gears.

The game continued in this vein until the 82nd minute, with Milan appearing toothless and seemingly incapable of reclaiming control of the match.

Then, in the 83rd minute, Francesco Camarda entered the game, and things changed. From a free kick near the edge of the box, Checco flicked a header attempting a lob over the goalkeeper. The ball hit the crossbar, but Abraham was perfectly positioned to slot home the rebound, securing the 2-1 victory.

San Siro erupted in celebration, with its 60,000 fans rejoicing, including two special guests—former stars Thiago Silva and Andriy Shevchenko. Milan achieved their fourth consecutive Champions League victory for the first time since 2005. That year, it ended in a final.
