Archie Brown ha dato il suo assenso alla corte di José Mourinho e ha accettato la proposta del Fenerbahçe. Accostato anche a il Milan, che è alla ricerca di un erede di Theo Hernandez, passato nel frattempo a l'Al Hilal, il terzino sinistro è atterrato sabato, intorno all’ora di pranzo, in Turchia per svolgere le visite mediche di rito prima di apporre la firma sul nuovo contratto. L’intesa con il Gent è stata definita per una cifra compresa tra gli 8 e i 9 milioni di euro, mentre per il calciatore è previsto uno stipendio di circa 3 milioni a stagione, nettamente più alto rispetto a quanto proposto da il Milan.

L’accordo con il Fenerbahçe era stato praticamente siglato già giovedì sera, ma ieri è emerso l’interesse dei rossoneri, che avevano presentato un’offerta al Gent, giudicata però insufficiente dal club belga. Il difensore, pronto a partire per la Turchia, aveva deciso di attendere un rilancio di il Milan, ma sono stati proprio i turchi a tornare alla carica, dando un’accelerata decisiva all’affare, portato a termine questa mattina. Mourinho voleva Brown a disposizione per l’inizio del ritiro, fissato per lunedì, e ha ottenuto ciò che desiderava.

Determinante per chiudere la trattativa è stata la telefonata del presidente del Fenerbahçe, Ali Koc, oltre al lavoro prezioso del direttore sportivo Devin Ozek, l’artefice del “miracolo Bayer Leverkusen”. "L'accordo con il Milan era praticamente fatto - ha raccontato proprio Brown - Ero pronto a partire.
