MALDINI: "MILANISTA PER SEMPRE. SCUDETTO INTER? MERITO DELLA DIRIGENZA"

È di oggi l'intervista a Radio Serie A di Paolo Maldini. L'ex dirigente, ma soprattutto l'ex capitano rossonero, si apre toccando vari temi. Dalla passione per il Milan al rapporto con Berlusconi, che per lui si auto definiva "un secondo papà".

Paolo però parla anche di forte attualità. Dalla rosa del Milan, alla seconda stella dell'Inter. Di seguito, un estratto della sua chiacchierata con il sempre ottimo Alessandro Alciato:

"Ho capito di voler fare il dirigente quando mi hanno chiamato, non sempre hai ben chiaro quello che vuoi fare, ma ho provato a capire quello che non avrei voluto fare. Non volevo fare l’allenatore, non volevo lavorare in televisione. Quando è arrivata l’opportunità ho analizzato bene la cosa, con Leonardo ho trovato una persona con i miei stessi principi e ideali, si parla sempre di lavoro di squadra all’interno di un club. Ho scelto di fare il dirigente in primis perché era il Milan, poi nei trentuno anni di esperienza ho avuto cose da raccontare e insegnare. Poi c’è il lavoro in sé, che è tutt’altro rispetto a ciò che ci si aspetta. Milan, Nazionale o niente? È una regola che vale soprattutto per l’Italia, non riuscirei mai a vedermi in un club diverso dal Milan"


Come detto, Paolo parla anche della rosa del Milan. Nello specifico, della fascia sinistra, descritta come "uno spettacolo":

"I miei primi dieci mesi da dirigente sono stati di apprendimento, mi sentivo inadeguato, stavo imparando e non riuscivo a determinare qualcosa. Leonardo rideva, mi diceva che mi sarei reso conto pian piano del mio impatto. È stata una fortuna iniziare a lavorare con lui. Quello che abbiamo creato non è stata solo una squadra vincente, ma anche tante relazioni con i giocatori. Ne sono arrivati circa trentacinque nel corso dei cinque anni, con ognuno di loro si è creato un rapporto speciale. Quando vedo la fascia sinistra del Milan è sinceramente uno spettacolo"


Un pensiero doveroso poi anche sulla seconda stella dell'Inter, che da milanista non lo ha di certo lasciato indifferente:

"È molto indicativo quello che è successo. L’Inter ha una struttura sportiva che determina il futuro dell’area sportiva. È stata gratificata con contratti a lunga scadenza, c’è stata un’idea di strategia. Si dà poca importanza alla gestione del gruppo, a volte si considerano i giocatori come macchine che devono produrre qualcosa, ma per farlo servono persone che li aiutino a farlo. Il supporto ai calciatori credo che sia ancora qualcosa di inespresso nel calcio sia in Italia sia a livello mondiale, ci si dimentica che sono ragazzi giovani che hanno bisogno di supporto e di qualcuno che dica loro le cose come stanno, non sempre è facile arrivare a parlarne con loro"

Infine, come un mantra, l'ultimo messaggio: "Finale persa col Milan ad Istanbul ferita aperta? No, basta. Dopo Istanbul c'è sempre Atene."

Paolo also speaks about current affairs. From the Milan squad to Inter's second star. Here's an excerpt from his conversation with the always excellent Alessandro Alciato:

"I understood that I wanted to become an executive when they called me. You don't always have a clear idea of what you want to do, but I tried to understand what I didn't want to do. I didn't want to become a coach, I didn't want to work in television. When the opportunity came, I analyzed it thoroughly. With Leonardo, I found someone with the same principles and ideals as mine; teamwork is always emphasized within a club. I chose to become an executive primarily because it was Milan, and then in my thirty-one years of experience, I had things to tell and teach. Then there's the job itself, which is very different from what one expects. Milan, National team, or nothing? It's a rule that applies especially to Italy; I could never see myself in a club other than Milan."

As mentioned, Paolo also talks about the Milan squad. Specifically, the left flank, described as "a spectacle":

"My first ten months as an executive were a learning experience; I felt inadequate, I was learning and couldn't determine anything. Leonardo laughed, he told me that I would gradually realize my impact. It was fortunate to start working with him. What we created was not just a winning team but also many relationships with the players. About thirty-five of them arrived over the five years, and with each of them, a special relationship was formed. When I see Milan's left flank, it's truly a spectacle."

Finally, a thought on Inter's second star, which as a Milan fan certainly didn't leave him indifferent:

"What happened is very indicative. Inter has a sports structure that determines the future of the sports area. They were rewarded with long-term contracts; there was an idea of strategy. Little importance is given to group management; sometimes players are considered as machines that need to produce something, but to do so, they need people to help them. I believe support for players is still something unexpressed in football both in Italy and worldwide; it's forgotten that they are young guys who need support and someone to tell them things as they are. It's not always easy to talk to them about it."
