LEAO: "CONCEICAO HA PORTATO UNA NUOVA MENTALITÀ. FONSECA NON MI PARLAVA"

È un Leao on fire quello di questa mattina. Il talento portoghese ha infatti rilasciato una lunga intervista nella quale ha affrontato tutti gli argomenti di attualità per il mondo rossonero. Da Fonseca a Conceiçao, passando per le sue personali ambizioni. Di seguito le sue parole:


Su Conceiçao: "Ha portato energia e una nuova mentalità. Così siamo arrivati a vincere la Supercoppa e farlo è stato importante per tutti. Per noi che siamo qui da tanto tempo e per i nuovi, che così hanno capito cosa significhi alzare un trofeo con il Milan. Adesso certe sensazioni le hanno provate tutti e dobbiamo andare avanti su questa strada. Vincere un derby in quel modo è stato stupendo: ci ha ricordato che siamo sulla strada giusta per mettere in bacheca altri titoli importanti.":

Un cambiamento che ha avuto subito effetti concreti: "L’energia e mentalità di cui parlavo prima si sono viste contro la Juve e contro l’Inter. Chi era fuori per infortunio ha scelto di essere 'dentro' la squadra, di dare il suo contributo dalla tribuna: è stato uno step in più. Un messaggio per noi e per gli altri. E infatti sento che ora, prima di entrare in campo, anche gli avversari ci percepiscono in maniera diversa. Le due rimonte vittoriose lo confermano".

Sui suoi obbiettivi personali: "Il mio obiettivo è essere al top e avvicinarmi ai più forti. Se l’allenatore è bravo può aiutarmi, il resto dipende da me. Io cerco di mettere le mie caratteristiche al servizio della squadra. Conceiçao non scherza sempre, ma sa come spingermi e mi aiuterà ad arrivare a un livello più alto. Puntiamo forte su di lui. Sono pronto per ascoltare e seguire le sue idee che sono buone, visto che è arrivato e dopo pochi giorni abbiamo vinto un trofeo".

"Se sogno il Pallone d'Oro? Ovvio, ma per me la cosa più importante è vincere un grande trofeo con la squadra. Il Pallone d’oro è una conseguenza dei risultati con il tuo club. Per questo la mia prima ambizione è conquistare la Champions. E per riuscirci so di dover fare la differenza in ogni incontro, di dover essere importante per il Milan".

E proprio sulla Champions e le possibilità del Milan, ha aggiunto: "In Europa abbiamo l’ambizione di andare il più avanti possibile, ma servirà sempre il vero Milan. La Champions è la coppa più bella che c’è nel calcio e per noi da ora in poi saranno tutte finali. Sì, possiamo sognare di vincere anche qualcosa di importante. Niente è impossibile".

Infine, Leao ha anche parlato di Fonseca: "Sulla nostra relazione allenatore-giocatore non ho nulla da dire, anche se all’inizio un paio di situazioni – e non dico problemi, ma situazioni – abbiamo dovuto risolverle. Ha cercato di fare il suo lavoro, di applicare le sue idee e io credo che ci sia sempre da imparare. Ma non ha funzionato e se doveva rimanere o meno, non lo decido certo io. Posso però dire che tutti hanno provato a dare il massimo e che a Fonseca auguro il meglio."

L'attaccante ha ricordato anche le esclusioni con Fonseca e se gli avevano dato più rabbia o motivazione: "Un po’ e un po’. Credo che almeno una spiegazione per tre panchine di fila si possa dare, però a volte gli allenatori fanno così... Era la prima volta che mi succedeva al Milan e ho anche imparato. Se mi ricapiterà, e spero di no perché voglio stare sempre in campo, sarò più consapevole di cosa devo fare ovvero rimanere concentrato, non buttarmi giù o perdere la fiducia in me stesso".

It’s a “Leao on fire” this morning. The Portuguese talent gave a long interview in which he addressed all the hot topics concerning the Rossoneri world. From Fonseca to Conceição, including his personal ambitions. Here are his words:

On Conceição:
"He brought energy and a new mentality. That’s how we managed to win the Super Cup, and doing so was important for everyone. For us who have been here for a long time and for the new players, who now understand what it means to lift a trophy with Milan. Now everyone has experienced those feelings, and we must keep moving forward on this path. Winning a derby in that way was amazing: it reminded us that we are on the right track to bring home more important titles."

A change that immediately had concrete effects:
"The energy and mentality I mentioned earlier were evident against Juve and Inter. Those who were sidelined due to injury chose to 'be part of' the team, contributing from the stands: it was an extra step. A message for us and for others. And in fact, I feel that now, before stepping onto the pitch, even our opponents perceive us differently. The two comeback victories confirm this."

On his personal goals:
"My goal is to be at the top and get closer to the strongest players. If the coach is good, he can help me, but the rest depends on me. I try to put my characteristics at the service of the team. Conceição doesn’t joke all the time, but he knows how to push me and will help me reach a higher level. We are betting heavily on him. I’m ready to listen and follow his ideas, which are good, as he arrived and just a few days later, we won a trophy."

"Do I dream of the Ballon d’Or? Of course, but for me, the most important thing is to win a major trophy with the team. The Ballon d’Or is a consequence of the results with your club. That’s why my primary ambition is to win the Champions League. And to achieve that, I know I need to make a difference in every match and be an important player for Milan."

On the Champions League and Milan’s chances, he added:
"In Europe, we have the ambition to go as far as possible, but it will always require the real Milan. The Champions League is the most beautiful trophy in football, and for us, from now on, every match will be a final. Yes, we can dream of winning something important. Nothing is impossible."

Finally, Leao also spoke about Fonseca:
"I have nothing to say about our coach-player relationship, although at the beginning, we had a couple of situations—and I’m not saying problems, but situations—that we had to resolve. He tried to do his job, to implement his ideas, and I believe there’s always something to learn. But it didn’t work out, and whether he should have stayed or not, it’s not my decision to make. However, I can say that everyone tried to give their best, and I wish Fonseca all the best."

The forward also recalled the times he was benched by Fonseca and whether it made him angrier or more motivated:
"A bit of both. I think at least an explanation for three consecutive games on the bench should be given, but sometimes coaches do that... It was the first time it happened to me at Milan, and I also learned from it. If it happens again—and I hope not because I always want to be on the pitch—I will be more aware of what I need to do, which is to stay focused, not let myself get down, or lose confidence in myself."
