Come hai passato le vacanze? Come hai visto la squadra in tournée?

Mi sono riposato, ma mi sono anche allenato per arrivare pronto. Ho visto le partite contro Arsenal e Liverpool: buone sensazioni. Non vedo l’ora di iniziare.

C’è sempre tempo per emozionarsi anche alla tua età?

Sì. Mi sono emozionato lasciando il Real. Da piccolo tifavo Milan, c’era Boban, il mio idolo. Ho sempre avuto un affetto per questi colori.

Il tuo obiettivo al Milan?

Voglio riportare il Milan in alto. L’obiettivo minimo è la Champions, ma bisogna puntare a vincere. Umiltà e lavoro di squadra, sempre.

Cosa puoi portare al Milan? Cosa ti aspetti dalla Serie A?

Esperienza, impegno e disponibilità. La Serie A è tattica, competitiva. Dovrò adattarmi in fretta ma sono pronto.

Hai parlato con qualcuno, magari con Ibra o Boban, del Milan?

Con Zlatan sì. Boban in passato. Ancelotti mi ha parlato molto bene del club. Tutti confermano la grandezza di questo posto.

Qualche anno fa hai battuto Allegri in finale di Champions…

Non glielo ricorderò troppo (ride). Sono contento di essere allenato da lui, è un vincente. Curioso di capire come mi vede in campo.

È la tua last dance?

Troppo presto per dirlo. Voglio giocare il Mondiale ma ora penso solo a far bene col Milan. Vivo il presente.

Ci racconti il momento della scelta?

Quando Tare è venuto in Croazia ho capito quanto il Milan mi volesse. Mi ha convinto il progetto. Ho parlato con la famiglia e deciso in fretta.

Dove ti piacerebbe giocare in campo?

Mi sento a mio agio in mezzo, dove posso far girare la squadra. Ma conta la squadra, non il singolo. Farò quello che chiederà il mister.

Cosa ti ha colpito del gruppo?

Buone impressioni, ma sono solo amichevoli. Ci sono tanti giocatori forti e una buona atmosfera. Le basi ci sono.

Solo Milan e Real Madrid hanno più Champions di te… Il tuo sogno è riportare lo scudetto?

Sì, sarebbe bello fare qualcosa come Ibra. Il Milan ha una grande storia, spero di contribuire.

Si parla di un ritorno di Galliani. Lo conosci?

Non ho parlato con lui, ma so cosa ha rappresentato. Ha fatto la storia con Berlusconi.

Cosa ti ha detto Ancelotti del Milan?

Mi ha parlato della pressione e della passione, simili al Real. Ma avevo già deciso da solo.

Che sensazioni hai dopo l’ottavo posto della scorsa stagione?

Non è andata bene, ma bisogna imparare. Se il Milan gioca come ha fatto contro di noi al Bernabeu, può stare in alto.

Rakitic ha detto che i tifosi del Milan sono fortunati ad averti…

Ivan è un amico, mi ha scritto un messaggio bellissimo. Ma sono io il fortunato. Porto umiltà, lavoro, semplicità. Sono solo Luka, uno a cui piace giocare a calcio.

Senti la responsabilità di essere leader?

Sì, ma nessuno fa la differenza da solo. Conta la squadra. Io darò tutto come sempre.

How were your holidays? How did you see the team during the tour?

I rested, but I also trained to be in top shape. I watched the games against Arsenal and Liverpool—good signs. I can’t wait to start.

Is there still room to feel emotions at your age?

Yes. Leaving Real was emotional. I grew up watching Italian football—Milan was my favorite team, Boban was my idol. I’ve always felt something for these colors.

What’s your goal at Milan?

I want to help bring Milan back to the top. The minimum is to qualify for the Champions League, but the goal must be to win. Stay humble, work hard, think as a team.

What can you bring to Milan? What do you expect from Serie A?

Experience, commitment, and willingness. Serie A is tactical and tough. I’ll need to adapt quickly, but I’m ready.

Have you spoken with anyone, maybe Ibra or Boban, about Milan?

Yes, with Zlatan. Boban in the past. Ancelotti also spoke highly of the club. Everyone confirms how big this club is.

A few years ago, you beat Allegri in a Champions League final…

I won’t bring it up too much (laughs). I’m happy to work with him—he’s a winner. Curious to see how he sees me in this team.

Is this your last dance?

Too early to say. I want to play the World Cup next year, but now I’m focused on Milan. One step at a time.

Can you tell us about the moment you chose Milan?

When Tare came to Croatia, I saw how much Milan wanted me. That was key. I spoke with my family, but deep down I already knew. It happened fast, which shows their trust.

Where would you like to play on the pitch?

I feel best in the middle, controlling the tempo. But it’s not about me—it’s about the team. I’ll do what the coach asks.

What stood out to you about the group so far?

Positive signs, even if it’s just pre-season. A lot of talent and a good vibe. That’s a good base to build from.

Only Milan and Real Madrid have more Champions League titles than you… Do you dream of winning the league like Ibra did?

Yes, it would be great to do something similar. Milan has a big history—I hope I can help.

There’s talk about Galliani returning. Do you know him?

No, we haven’t spoken. But I know what he did with Berlusconi—those were historic years for Milan.

What did Ancelotti tell you about Milan?

He talked about the pressure and the fans, like at Real. But he didn’t convince me—I already wanted to come.

How do you feel after last season’s 8th place?

It wasn’t a good season, but you learn from it. If Milan plays like they did against us at the Bernabeu, the level is high. Now it’s about consistency.
