LA CONFERENZA DI RABIOT: "HO RINUNCIATO ALLA CHAMPIONS PER IL MILAN"

Ecco le dichiarazioni di Adrien Rabiot durante la sua conferenza di presentazione:

Quanta voglia hai di giocare?
“Certo, sono pronto, sono allenato. Sono qui per dare una mano, se il mister mi mette in campo farò di tutto per aiutare la squadra a vincere”.

Con Allegri hai un grande feeling...
“Abbiamo condiviso tanto, mi sono trovato subito bene con lui alla Juve. Ha la mentalità giusta per vincere, vive per il calcio, come me. Abbiamo un grande feeling, anche quando è andato via dalla Juve abbiamo continuato a parlare e ci siamo anche visti. Prima di essere un grande allenatore, è una grande persona”.

Quali sono le tue prime sensazioni?
“Ho avuto buone sensazioni, è un gruppo che ha voglia di vincere e giovani con voglia di imparare. Abbiamo un mister esperto. Mi sono trovato subito bene in allenamento, l'ambiente è positivo, ho trovato grande disponibilità da parte di tutti, sono stati tutti gentili anche con la mia famiglia”.

Ci racconti come è nata la trattativa? Perché hai scelto il Milan?
“E' stato fatto tutto negli ultimi giorni di mercato. Ho parlato con Allegri quando è arrivato al Milan, ma avevo un contratto con il Marsiglia. Poi quando è successo quello che è successo al Marsiglia il mister mi ha richiamato, mi ha raccontato il progetto e alla fine è andato tutto veloce. Siamo riusciti a chiudere questa trattativa”.

Hai sentito altri ex milanisti?
“Maignan mi ha parlato bene del Milan, anche Theo mi ha detto che mi sarei trovato bene perchè è una grande famiglia. Allegri ha già lavorato qui, è molto legato al club. Non voglio dire che mi hanno convinto perchè parliamo di un grande club, ma è importante comunque avere un feedback da chi è qui o è già stato qui. Mi hanno parlato tutti bene del Milan. Sono sicuro che ho fatto la scelta giusta”.

Che tappa è il Milan nella tua carriera?
“Al PSG ho vinto tanto, alla Juventus ho giocato tanto. Al Marsiglia ho fatto un anno al top. Voglio continuare ad avere fame di vincere e di fare gol e assist. Voglio anche aiutare i più giovani, qui ce ne sono tanti. Sono qui per aiutare il Milan a tornare a vincere e a fare grandi cose. La scorsa stagione è stata brutta per il Milan, che deve lottare sempre per vincere trofei. Porto la mia leadership e il mio carattere. Venire qui è stata la scelta giusta. Vogliamo tornare a giocare la Champions il prossimo anno”.

Per il terzo anno di fila hai deciso di andare in un club che non gioca la Champions. Come mai?
“Giocare nel Milan è più importante che giocare la Champions in altre squadre che non possono puntare a vincere o andare avanti. Ho preferito venire qui con il progetto del mister e avere il prossimo anno una squadra forte che possa lottare in Champions. Non solo giocarla, magari non vincerla perchè è difficile, ma avere l'ambizione di fare grandi cose. Potevo andare in altri club che facevano la Champions, ma il progetto di Allegri mi ha convinto a venire qui”.

Allegri ti ha detto se sarai titolare domenica?
“Non mi ha detto ancora nulla (sorride, ndr). Ovviamente io ci spero, ma decide il mister. Allegri mi ha chiamato in estate, ma ero sotto contratto con il Marsiglia. Poi mi ha richiamato quando è successo quella cosa a Marsiglia. Non abbiamo ancora avuto il tempo per parlare bene, ma lo conosco bene, so come lavorano lui e lo staff, quindi sono pronto”.

Cosa vuoi dire ai tifosi del Marsiglia?
“Ho detto loro tutto quello che penso con un post su Instagram. Sono stato lì una sola stagione, ma è stato un anno intenso, è stato tutto molto bello”.

Domenica ritrovi Rowe...
“Con lui non c'è nulla di speciale, ci siamo mandati dei messaggi dopo che lui è andato al Bologna e io al Milan. Ci vedremo domenica a San Siro, sarà anche bello vederlo. Lui è un bravo ragazzo. Quello che è successo a Marsiglia è una cosa che può succedere ovunque, non ha cambiato il nostro rapporto. Sarò contento di vederlo e anche per lui sarà così”.

Da fuori come giudichi questa squadra?
“Ci sono giocatori esperti e giovani, ci sono stati cambiamenti, non è facile creare un gruppo in poco tempo, ma cercheremo di farlo. C'è grande qualità in questa squadra, c'è la giusta mentalità. Poi sarà il campo a parlare, ma io sono fiducioso. Abbiamo giocatori come Modric che ha grande esperienza. In nazionale ho parlato con Mbappè di Modric e mi ha detto che è una grande persona. Dovremo conoscerci meglio tutti, ma ho trovato serenità e tanta voglia di lavorare e fare bene. La base è buona”.

Cosa pensi della Juventus? Può lottare con il Milan per lo scudetto?
“Sono qui per fare grandi cose e vincere lo scudetto. Se uno viene al Milan è per vincere. Io farò di tutto per aiutare la squadra ad arrivare in alto. A febbraio e marzo vedremo dove saremo, ora dobbiamo pensare solo a lavorare e seguire il mister che sa come si gestisce un club così. La Juve ha preso giocatori forti in avanti, è una delle pretendenti per lo scudetto”.

Cosa pensi di San Siro?
“E' uno stadio che mi piace, mi porta bene, spero di fare gol e grandi cose con la maglia del Milan. E' un bellissimo stadio con tifosi straordinari. So che al momento i tifosi sono un po' arrabbiati, ma abbiamo bisogno di loro e del loro sostegno in ogni partita. I nostri tifosi sono una parte importante della squadra”.

In che ruolo preferisci giocare?
“Posso fare tutti i ruoli in mezzo. Con De Zerbi ho giocato anche più alto. Posso fare tutto, poi dipende come decide di giocare il mister. Nel 5-3-2 il mio ruolo preferito è mezzala sinistra, posso giocare anche in un centrocampo a due o alle spalle della punta. Non ho parlato ancora bene con il mister, ma sono disposto a giocare ovunque”.

Ti sei prefissato un numero minimo di gol da fare?
“L'ultimo anno nella Juve ho fatto 10-11 gol, così come l'anno scorso al Marsiglia. Mi piace fare gol e assist. L'anno scorso ho fatto dieci gol senza giocare le coppe, proverò a ripetermi. Il mister mi spinge ad andare avanti ed essere protagonista con gol e assist. Voglio fare almeno dieci gol come l'anno scorso, poi se potrò farne di più meglio. Negli ultimi anni, parlando con Allegri e De Zerbi, mi hanno convinto che posso essere quel giocatore bravo ad inserirsi in area e fare gol”.

Il Milan era nel tuo destino?
“Tutto quello che ho fatto con la Juve e la nazionale francese spero di farlo con il Milan. Quello che ho fatto in passato non conta più, ora conta solo il Milan. C'è un buon feeling con San Siro, quindi spero di poter fare bene”.

C'è qualche rimpianto per aver lasciato il Marsiglia? Domenica ritroverai Rowe...
“Come ho già spiegato, ho avuto e ho anche ora un buon rapporto con Rowe. Siamo andati oltre a quell'episodio, abbiamo parlato anche di altro. Sono contento di poterlo rivedere domenica. Non ho nessun rammarico, sono cose che possono succedere. Le cose nella vita possono cambiare in fretta, penso di aver lasciato un bel ricordo al Marsiglia e ai suoi tifosi. Ho dato sempre tutto, sono arrivato lì con grande ambizione e abbiamo riportato il Marsiglia in Champions. Auguro il meglio al Marsiglia”.

How eager are you to play?
“Of course, I’m ready, I’m fit. I’m here to help, and if the coach puts me on the field, I’ll do everything to help the team win.”

With Allegri you have a great connection...
“We shared a lot, I felt immediately comfortable with him at Juve. He has the right mentality to win, he lives for football, just like me. We have a strong bond, and even when he left Juve we kept in touch and even met. Before being a great coach, he’s a great person.”

What are your first impressions?
“I had good feelings, it’s a group that wants to win and young players eager to learn. We have an experienced coach. I immediately felt good in training, the atmosphere is positive, I found great openness from everyone, they’ve all been kind to me and also to my family.”

Can you tell us how the negotiation came about? Why did you choose Milan?
“Everything happened in the last days of the transfer window. I spoke with Allegri when he joined Milan, but I was under contract with Marseille. Then when what happened in Marseille happened, the coach called me again, explained the project, and in the end everything went quickly. We managed to close the deal.”

Did you speak to any former Milan players?
“Maignan spoke well of Milan, and Theo also told me I would feel good here because it’s a big family. Allegri already worked here, he’s very attached to the club. I don’t want to say they convinced me because we’re talking about a great club, but it’s still important to get feedback from those who are here or have been here. They all spoke highly of Milan. I’m sure I made the right choice.”

What stage is Milan in your career?
“At PSG I won a lot, at Juventus I played a lot. At Marseille I had a top year. I want to keep my hunger for winning and for scoring goals and assists. I also want to help the younger players, and here there are many. I’m here to help Milan get back to winning and achieving big things. Last season was bad for Milan, which must always fight for trophies. I bring my leadership and my character. Coming here was the right decision. We want to return to the Champions League next year.”

For the third year in a row you’ve joined a club not playing in the Champions League. Why?
“Playing at Milan is more important than playing the Champions League with other clubs that can’t aim to win or go far. I preferred to come here with the coach’s project and next year have a strong team to compete in the Champions League. Not just to play it, maybe not win it because it’s difficult, but to have the ambition to achieve great things. I could have gone to other clubs playing in the Champions League, but Allegri’s project convinced me to come here.”

Did Allegri tell you if you’ll start on Sunday?
“He hasn’t said anything yet (smiles). Obviously I hope so, but it’s up to the coach. Allegri called me in the summer, but I was under contract with Marseille. Then he called me again when that thing happened in Marseille. We haven’t had the time to talk properly yet, but I know him well, I know how he and his staff work, so I’m ready.”

What would you like to say to the Marseille fans?
“I told them everything I think in a post on Instagram. I was there for just one season, but it was an intense year, it was all very beautiful.”

On Sunday you’ll meet Rowe again...
“There’s nothing special with him, we exchanged some messages after he went to Bologna and I to Milan. We’ll see each other on Sunday at San Siro, and it will be nice to meet again. He’s a good guy. What happened in Marseille is something that could happen anywhere, it didn’t change our relationship. I’ll be happy to see him, and it will be the same for him.”

From the outside, how do you judge this team?
“There are experienced players and young ones, there have been changes, it’s not easy to build a group in a short time, but we’ll try. There’s great quality in this squad, the right mentality. Then the pitch will speak, but I’m confident. We have players like Modric, who has great experience. With the national team, I spoke with Mbappé about Modric and he told me he’s a great person. We all need to get to know each other better, but I found serenity and a strong desire to work and do well. The foundation is solid.”

What do you think about Juventus? Can they compete with Milan for the title?
“I’m here to do great things and win the Scudetto. If you join Milan, it’s to win. I’ll do everything to help the team reach the top. In February and March we’ll see where we are, for now we just need to focus on working and following the coach, who knows how to manage such a club. Juve have signed strong attackers, they’re one of the contenders for the title.”

What do you think about San Siro?
“It’s a stadium I like, it brings me luck, I hope to score goals and do great things wearing Milan’s jersey. It’s a beautiful stadium with extraordinary fans. I know right now the fans are a bit angry, but we need them and their support in every match. Our supporters are an important part of the team.”

What position do you prefer to play?
“I can play any role in midfield. With De Zerbi I even played further forward. I can do it all, then it depends on how the coach wants to play. In a 5-3-2 my favorite role is as left mezzala, but I can also play in a two-man midfield or behind the striker. I haven’t discussed it properly with the coach yet, but I’m ready to play anywhere.”

Have you set a minimum number of goals to score?
“My last year at Juve I scored 10–11 goals, same as last year at Marseille. I like scoring and assisting. Last year I scored ten goals without playing European cups, I’ll try to repeat that. The coach pushes me to go forward and be decisive with goals and assists. I want to score at least ten goals like last season, and if I can do more, even better. In recent years, talking with Allegri and De Zerbi, they convinced me I can be that player good at making runs into the box and scoring.”

Was Milan your destiny?
“Everything I achieved with Juve and the French national team I hope to repeat with Milan. What I did in the past doesn’t matter anymore, now only Milan matters. I have a good connection with San Siro, so I hope I can do well.”

Any regrets about leaving Marseille? On Sunday you’ll face Rowe again...
“As I’ve already explained, I had and still have a good relationship with Rowe. We moved past that incident, we also talked about other things. I’m happy to see him again on Sunday. I have no regrets, these are things that can happen. Life can change quickly, I think I left good memories at Marseille and with their fans. I always gave everything, I arrived there with great ambition and we brought Marseille back to the Champions League. I wish Marseille the best.”
