Comincia la conferenza di presentazione di Walker.

Prende parola Ibrahimovic per l'introduzione:
"Sappiamo di avere tanti terzini. Abbiamo Calabria, Jimenez, Royal, Terracciano, Theo. Ma questa è un'offerta a cui non potevamo dire di no. Non serve neanche che io vi presenti Kyle. Si è creata questa situazione e non potevamo dire no ad uno come lui, meglio averlo che non averlo. Kyle è un leader. È forte in campo ma anche fuori, con la sua personalità e con la sua esperienza. Secondo noi può giocare anche come centrale difensivo. Porta tante cose che possono dare una mano".

Sulla vicenda Calabria Conceicao:
"È stata una situazione calda, di adrenalina. A me è successo mille volte. L'importante è che dopo la situazione si risolva tutto, ed era già risolta prima che rientrassero negli spogliati. Questa cosa mi è success al Milan, all'Inter, alla Juve, al PSG, al Barcellona, ovunque. Queste cose sono normali succedano quando tutti vogliono vincere a tutti i costi. Come mi ha insegnato mister Capello quando era capitato a me "queste cose vanno bene per la squadra". È meglio che succedano queste cose, altrimenti sembra che a qualcuno possa non interessare. Invece tutti ci tengono e tutti hanno voglia. Dall'esterno può sembrare una cosa negativa, ma si è risolto tutto dopo la partita".

Su eventuali innesti a centrocampo e attacco:
"Abbiamo i nostri obiettivi, ma come sapete il mercato di gennaio è difficile. Per Kyle si è aperta un'opportunità ed è meglio averlo che non averlo. Speriamo di riuscire, ma è sempre una battaglia anche in queste situazioni. Ci stiamo lavorando, ma non c'è garanzia. Sappiamo cosa fare".

Ora la parola passa a Walker:

Che percezione hai sempre avuto del Milan nel corso della tua carriera?
"Chiaramente giocare per il Milan è qualcosa di fantastico. È una grande ambizione per la mia carriera provare una nuova esperienza. Ho pensato che questa fosse un'ottima opportunità per arriva a qua ed esprimere il mio talento"

Hai parlato con qualche giocatore del Milan del passato?
"Si ho parlato con uno dei grandi (rivolgendosi a Zlatan, ndr) prima di venire qua. Lui mi ha chiarito il concetto che la società vuole fare bene. Il Milan è andato a vincere la Supercoppa, e questo è un buon inizio. Le cose in campionato non stanno andando granché, in Champions invece si. Ci basta un solo punto per evitare i playoff. Io porto la mia esperienza, la mia leadership. Abbiamo i giocatori giusti, le figure dietro le quinte che stanno facendo le cose giuste per riportare questo club in alto".


Che cosa conoscevi già del nostro paese e del nostro calcio, la Serie A?
"Chiaramente durante la mia infanzia le grandi squadre, quando si guardano disputarle la Champions si vedono i tipi di giocatori che hanno giocato in Italia. Volevo vivere questo tipo di emozioni. C'erano tante altre squadre interessate, ma ho avuto la sensazione che fosse il momento giusto per venire qua. Zlatan è stato fantastico, e volevo dimostrare di essere performante anche in Serie A e non solo in Premier".

Di che cosa ha bisogno in questo momento il Milan?
"Penso, in base a ciò che ho visto, la passione, la voglia di vincere, la pressione che dobbiamo mettere su noi stessi per vincere le partite. Poi ovviamente c'è la Champions, dove si gioca contro grandi squadre senza mancare di rispetto al Parma C'è stata una grande differenza tra il primo ed il secondo tempo. Serve entusiasmo, leadership in campo. Zlatan ha parlato di cosa è successo tra Calabria e Conceiçao ieri, ed hanno dimostrato che ci tengono".


Cosa ti ha portato a scegliere il Milan?
"La storia della società ed anche il progetto che Zlatan mi ha proposto. Sono qui per giocare di più e vincere più trofei possibili. Non mi interessa altro".

Sei pronto ad interpretare il ruolo da leader dentro e fuori dal campo?
"È ciò che devo fare. Con la mia età, con la mia esperienza posso passare questo messaggio ai più giovani, ma non posso farlo da solo. Ci sono anche altri leader, ma forse c'è una mancanza di fiducia. Ci vuole costanza di risultato, è cambiato l'allenatore, ma credo che Conceiçao abbia delle buone idee, buone basi sulle quali costruire la squadra. A volte ci vuole disciplina, quel fuoco dentro che deve essere trasmesso agli altri e che forse ultimamente è un po' mancato. Spero che Rubs (Loftus-Cheek, ndr), Fik (Tomori, ndr) e Tammy (Abraham, ndr) possano avere fiducia in me. Spero che i miei compagni possano seguirmi in campo. Ho vinto tanto in carriera, ma vengo qui con l'auspicio di vincere tanti altri trofei con il Milan".

What perception have you always had of Milan throughout your career? "Clearly, playing for Milan is something fantastic. It’s a great ambition for my career to try a new experience. I thought this was a great opportunity to come here and express my talent."

Have you spoken to any former Milan players? "Yes, I spoke to one of the greats (referring to Zlatan, editor's note) before coming here. He made it clear to me that the club wants to do well. Milan went on to win the Super Cup, and that’s a good start. Things aren’t going that well in the league, but in the Champions League, we’re doing better. We only need one point to avoid the playoffs. I bring my experience, my leadership. We have the right players, the right people behind the scenes who are doing the right things to get this club back to the top."

What did you already know about our country and Serie A? "Clearly, during my childhood, when watching the big teams play in the Champions League, you see the types of players who have played in Italy. I wanted to experience those kinds of emotions. There were many other teams interested, but I had the feeling that this was the right time to come here. Zlatan has been fantastic, and I wanted to prove that I could perform in Serie A, not just in the Premier League."

What does Milan need right now? "I think, based on what I’ve seen, the passion, the desire to win, the pressure we need to put on ourselves to win matches. Then, of course, there’s the Champions League, where we play against great teams without disrespecting Parma. There was a big difference between the first and second half. We need enthusiasm, leadership on the field. Zlatan talked about what happened between Calabria and Conceição yesterday, and they showed that they care."

What made you choose Milan? "The history of the club and also the project that Zlatan proposed to me. I’m here to play more and win as many trophies as possible."


Are you ready to take on the role of a leader both on and off the field?
"It's what I have to do. With my age and experience, I can pass this message on to the younger players, but I can't do it alone. There are other leaders too, but maybe there's a lack of confidence. Consistency in results is needed, the coach has changed, but I believe that Conceiçao has good ideas and solid foundations on which to build the team. Sometimes, discipline is required, that inner fire that needs to be passed on to others and that maybe has been lacking recently. I hope Rubs (Loftus-Cheek), Fik (Tomori), and Tammy (Abraham) can trust me. I hope my teammates will follow me on the field. I've won a lot in my career, but I'm here with the hope of winning many more trophies with Milan."
