"Ci siamo ammazzati da soli. Non è colpa dell'arbitro ma colpa nostra. Grande delusione stasera, la Champions era un obiettivo. Siamo delusi e arrabbiati. È mancata maturità"


Quali sensazioni dopo la partita?

"Siamo delusi e arrabbiati. Penso che è mancata maturità: vinci 1-0 e continui a giocare. Sul secondo giallo a Theo l'arbitro è comunque stato troppo duro: per simulazione in una partita così, dai almeno un avvertimento. È cambiata la partita. Adesso l'importante è rimanere gruppo e pensare al campionato: soffriamo questa notte e da domani prepararsi al prossimo obiettivo"

Cosa si poteva fare di più nei 180 minuti?

"Si poteva fare tanto di più. Dopo le partite si possono dire tante cose. Oggi con un po' di fortuna potevamo fare 2-0 nel primo e abbiamo iniziato bene il secondo. Poi la partita è cambiata"

Theo si tuffa sempre...

"Queste situazioni quando succedono non si può dire se è giusto o meno. Non penso che Theo fa l'attore, gioca il suo gioco e prova a fare il meglio possibile. Queste cose succedono in campo, non è che lo cerca"


Siete arrabbiati con l'arbitro o con Theo?

"Siamo arrabbiati con noi stessi: noi abbiamo perso e l'avversario è stato più forte. Ci siamo ammazzati da soli. Non siamo arrabbiati con l'arbitro. È colpa nostra, non ci sono scuse o lamentazioni. Dobbiamo guardarci allo specchio e vedere cosa abbiamo sbagliato"

Tante espulsioni: com'è possibile?

"Sono situazioni che succedono in campo. A Empoli abbiamo preso un espulso che non era giusto e c'era un rosso contro... Succedono queste situazioni, non possiamo controllarle prima. Dobbiamo essere sereni, controllati e concentrati in campo"

Avete mancato tanti obiettivi. Cosa ti può soddisfare e dove si poteva fare meglio?

"Oggi è una delusione, la Champions era un obiettivo. Prima dell'inizio del campionato volevamo vincere il campionato. La Supercoppa l'abbiamo vinta, manca la Coppa Italia: la storia del club è puntare questi trofei. Poi durante la stagione non vanno le cose sempre come hai pensato. Non eravamo contenti e a gennaio abbiamo fatto queste mosse per migliorare: però non c'è garanzia. Voglio vedere un Milan dominante, da Milan. Quando sono arrivato 4 o 5 anni fa non era il Milan che tutti erano abituati e poi da lì si è cresciuti"

La squadra dello scudetto troppo smantellata?

"Io ho smesso, ho 42 anni... Ho giocato in quella squadra e posso dire che questa squadra di oggi ha più possibilità di vincere: è il doppio più forte. Abbiamo vinto con quella squadra ma questa come qualità è meglio"

"We're disappointed and angry. I think maturity was missing: you win 1-0 and you keep playing. On Theo’s second yellow card, the referee was harsh: for simulation in a game like this, at least give a warning. The game changed. Now, the important thing is to stay united as a group and focus on the league: we suffer tonight and from tomorrow we prepare for the next goal."

What more could have been done in the 180 minutes?

"We could have done a lot more. After the games, a lot of things can be said. Today, with a bit of luck, we could have made it 2-0 in the first half and we started well in the second. Then the game changed."

Theo always dives...

"When these situations happen, you can't say whether it's right or wrong. I don’t think Theo is acting, he plays his game and tries to do his best. These things happen on the field, it's not like he’s looking for it."

Are you angry with the referee or with Theo?

"We're angry with ourselves: we lost and the opponent was stronger. We killed ourselves. We're not angry with the referee. It’s our fault, no excuses or complaints. We have to look in the mirror and see what we did wrong."

Many red cards: how is that possible?

"These are situations that happen on the field. In Empoli, we got a red card that wasn’t right, and there was a red card against us... These situations happen, we can't control them beforehand. We need to stay calm, controlled, and focused on the field."

You missed many objectives. What can satisfy you, and where could things have gone better?

"Today is a disappointment, the Champions League was a goal. Before the season started, we wanted to win the league. We won the Super Cup, and the Coppa Italia is still missing: the club’s history is focused on these trophies. During the season, things don't always go as planned. We weren't happy, and in January, we made moves to improve: but there's no guarantee. I want to see a dominant Milan, a Milan. When I arrived 4 or 5 years ago, it wasn’t the Milan that everyone was used to, and then from there, we grew."

Was the Scudetto-winning team dismantled too much?

"I stopped, I’m 42... I played in that team and I can say that this team today has more chances to win: it’s twice as strong. We won with that team, but this one is better in terms of quality."
