Arianna Ravelli, giornalista per La Gazzetta dello Sport, si è così espressa commentando il presente e il prossimo futuro del Milan: "Nessuna delle big ha visto le sue legittime aspirazioni così schiacciate sotto il peso dei fatti, nessuna ha così sotto performato come il Milan, a dimostrazione che non bastano campagne acquisti importanti (la società è stata tra le più attive sul mercato sia in estate che a gennaio), ma serve mettere i tasselli al posto giusto.

Ecco perché la notizia che il Milan è vicino a chiudere per un direttore sportivo, prima ancora di soffermarci sul nome, ha assunto un’importanza che in genere non si riserva a questa figura nell’organico: la società ripara uno dei suoi errori di costituzione, quello di più lungo corso, quando nel post Maldini (e, aggiungiamo, nel post Gazidis, ad che comunque aveva una lunga esperienza di calcio) ha deciso che poteva fare a meno della figura di un manager che sapesse di campo, dividendo le competenze tra ad, area scout e Ibrahimovic. Quella lacuna sta per essere finalmente riempita e al momento in pole c’è Igli Tare, scelta razionale (è libero, può mettersi subito al lavoro), curriculum tra i migliori in circolazione, conoscenza del campionato italiano e del mercato internazionale. Zlatan Ibrahimovic potrà così tornare al ruolo che inizialmente era stato cucito per lui, quello di superconsulente della proprietà, lasciandogli la possibilità di crescere come manager, senza che sia costretto a riempire tutti i buchi in organigramma"

"None of the big clubs have seen their legitimate ambitions so thoroughly crushed by the weight of events. None have underperformed as much as Milan—proving that even major transfer campaigns (with the club being among the most active on the market both in the summer and in January) aren’t enough unless the right pieces are put in the right places.

That’s why the news that Milan is close to appointing a sporting director has taken on a significance rarely reserved for this kind of figure—regardless of who it might be. The club is correcting one of its structural mistakes, the longest-standing one: after Maldini (and, we might add, after Gazidis, a CEO with extensive football experience), the club decided it could do without a manager who truly understands the pitch, splitting responsibilities among the CEO, the scouting department, and Ibrahimovic. That gap is finally about to be filled, and the frontrunner at the moment is Igli Tare—a rational choice (he’s available and can start working immediately), with one of the strongest resumes out there, and deep knowledge of both Serie A and the international market.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will therefore be able to return to the role originally envisioned for him: that of senior advisor to the ownership—allowing him to grow as a manager without being forced to plug every hole in the organization."
