FONSECA: “MI DISPIACE NON AVER AVUTO PIÙ TEMPO AL MILAN”

Paulo Fonseca, oggi allenatore del Lione, è tornato a parlare del suo breve periodo al Milan in un’intervista al The Guardian. L’ex tecnico rossonero, esonerato a fine dicembre 2024 e sostituito da Sergio Conceição, ha commentato sia la sua esperienza in Italia sia la squalifica di nove mesi ricevuta dopo lo scontro con l’arbitro Benoit Millot durante la partita contro il Brest.

A proposito del Milan, Fonseca ha detto:

“Nell’ultimo decennio il Milan ha vinto una volta la Serie A. È un periodo difficile per loro. È stato un piacere essere lì e mi dispiace davvero di non aver avuto tempo per continuare a lavorare. Penso che la mentalità in Italia sia completamente diversa da quella in Inghilterra, dove si dà tempo all’allenatore. Ma è il modo in cui vivono il calcio lì.”

Paulo Fonseca, now coach of Lyon, spoke about his time at Milan in an interview with The Guardian. The former Rossoneri manager, who was sacked at the end of December 2024 and replaced by fellow Portuguese coach Sergio Conceição, also discussed the nine-month ban he received after his head-to-head clash with referee Benoit Millot during the match against Brest.

Speaking about Milan, Fonseca said:

“In the last decade, Milan has won Serie A only once. It’s a difficult period for them. It was a pleasure to be there and I’m really sorry I didn’t have more time to keep working. I think the mentality in Italy is completely different from England, where coaches are given time. But that’s just how they live football there.”
