L’idea che hai sempre avuto del Milan, l’hai ritrovata in questi primi giorni? Il Milan è un club storico, conosciuto ovunque, anche in Ecuador. Sono felice di essere qui, ho lavorato tanto per arrivare a questo livello.

Sei vicino alla miglior condizione?

Parlando con il preparatore, ho detto che sono arrivato quasi senza fiato, ma grazie alla mia preparazione sono in buone condizioni e non vedo l’ora di giocare.

Cosa significa per te e la tua famiglia questo trasferimento?

Quando abbiamo saputo dell’interesse del Milan, è stata una grande emozione per me e la mia famiglia. Voglio sfruttare al massimo questa occasione, è un sogno che si avvera.

Il senso di responsabilità dell’eredità di Theo? Lo hai sentito?

Theo è un grande giocatore e ha lasciato il segno qui. Ora tocca a me, sono contento e lavorerò duro per ricambiare la fiducia del Milan e far felici i tifosi.

Quanto è stato importante De Zerbi?

De Zerbi è stato fondamentale, anche per imparare l’italiano. Le sue qualità tecniche e umane mi hanno aiutato molto, cercherò di applicare quello che ho imparato.

Cosa ti sta chiedendo Allegri come ruolo in campo?

Devo difendere ma anche salire e aiutare l’attacco. Posso giocare sia a quattro che a tre dietro. Ho trovato un gruppo forte e motivato.

Allenato a Quito dall’ex rossonero Borghi: ci hai parlato?

Abbiamo condiviso poco tempo, ma ho imparato molto da lui, soprattutto sui cross e i lanci lunghi.

Come pensi che sarà la connessione con Leao?

Con Rafa ci siamo già salutati e ho capito subito che possiamo fare bene insieme. Mi motiva e non vedo l’ora di giocare con lui.

Com’è lavorare con Allegri? In cosa vorresti migliorare?

Allegri è serio e vuole vincere, mi piace questo. Negli ultimi anni in Premier sono migliorato negli assist, voglio continuare anche qui.

Perché il numero 2?

L’ho scelto per rendere omaggio a Cafù, un giocatore importantissimo che l’ha indossato.

De Zerbi ti ha definito uno dei migliori al mondo se fossi migliorato come controllo: cosa credi che tu debba migliorare?

Devo lavorare ancora sulla tecnica e il passaggio. Ho migliorato molto con lui e voglio continuare a farlo.

Che gruppo hai trovato?

Mi sento molto bene, tutti mi hanno accolto calorosamente. Il gruppo è motivato a raggiungere grandi obiettivi.

Obiettivo?

Voglio restare a lungo, contribuire con gol e assist e scrivere la storia del Milan.

Qual è l’obiettivo per la stagione?

Vincere tutte e tre le competizioni. Voglio far felici i tifosi.

Sei il primo ecuadoriano del Milan…

Sì, ho ricevuto tanti messaggi da tifosi ecuadoriani. È un orgoglio rappresentare il mio paese qui.

Have you found the Milan you always imagined in these first days?

Milan is a historic club, known everywhere, even in Ecuador. I’m happy to be here; I worked hard to reach this level.

Are you close to your best condition?

I talked with the trainer and joked that I arrived almost out of breath. Thanks to my preparation, I’m in good shape and can’t wait to play.

What does this transfer mean for you and your family?

When we heard Milan was interested, it was a big emotion for me and my family. I want to make the most of this chance; it’s a dream come true.

Do you feel the responsibility of Theo’s legacy?

Theo is a great player and left his mark here. Now it’s my turn. I’m happy and will work hard to repay Milan’s trust and make the fans happy.

How important was De Zerbi?

De Zerbi helped me a lot, also with understanding Italian. His technical and human qualities were very important. I’ll try to apply what I learned.

What does Allegri ask from you in your role on the field?

I need to defend but also go forward and help attack. I can play in a back four or three. The team is strong and motivated.

You were coached in Quito by former Milan player Borghi: did you talk about Milan?

We spent little time together, but I learned a lot from him, especially about crossing and long passes.

How do you think your connection with Leao will be?

Rafa already greeted me with a big smile. I feel we can do great things together. He motivates me, and I can’t wait to play with him.

What is it like working with Allegri? What do you want to improve?

Allegri is serious and wants to win, I like that. I improved a lot in assists in the Premier League, and I want to keep doing that here.

I chose it to honor Cafú, an important player who wore it.

De Zerbi called you one of the best in the world if you improved your control: what do you think you need to improve?

I need to work more on technique and passing. I improved a lot with him and want to keep improving.
