BRAIDA A MILANNEWS: "MALDINI È UNA FIGURA CHE MANCA"

Ecco le parole di Ariedo Braida, ex Direttore Sportivo e Direttore Generale del Milan di Berlusconi, sulla situazione attuale del Milan:

Ariedo Braida, la situazione al Milan sta precipitando. Da fuori che idea si è fatto?
"Quando le cose vanno bene sembra che tutto debba sempre andare a gonfie vele e che non ci siano tempi bui. Poi all'improvviso le cose smettono di funzionare. Nel calcio inaspettatamente arrivano le crisi, si fatica a capire cosa succeda. Ecco, in questo momento è quello che sta succedendo al Milan".

Sul banco degli imputati ormai sono sempre più persone: dalla proprietà, alla dirigenza ai giocatori
"Ci sono tanti aspetti da considerare, non uno solo. In questo momento nel Milan c'è una crisi d'identità. Sono milanista e soffro, non voglio criticare. Dico però che bisogna ricreare un gruppo attraverso il senso di appartenenza. Sembra banale, ma è un qualcosa di realmente importante. Se non hai certi valori si sfalda tutto".

Si riferisce alla dirigenza o alla squadra?
"Mi riferisco all'ambiente tutto nell'insieme. Dal vertice più alto fino alla base della piramide. Il Milan ha una grande storia, un grande passato. Dopo il Real Madrid è la squadra che ha vinto più Champions. Bisogna capire l'importanza di vestire questa maglia, il senso di responsabilità nel rappresentare questo club. Il grande Milan ha costruito i suoi successi attraverso il senso di appartenenza, attraverso una chiara identità".

Solo un anno fa il Milan arrivava secondo
"Le crisi arrivano sempre, arrivano a tutti. Guardate il Manchester City. La differenza la fa il saper trovare le soluzioni. Sotto questo aspetto al Milan manca l'esperienza necessaria. E l'esperienza è importante, magari non la cosa più importante ma ti aiuta di sicuro. Ed è una cosa che non si compra".

Ibrahimovic e Moncada avrebbero bisogno di una figura d'esperienza che li affiancasse?
"Fra qualche anno saranno molto più bravi di adesso. Ma hanno bisogno di capire cosa sia il Milan. Poi gli errori li commettiamo tutti, però bisogna avere anche il talento per capire chi può giocare o no a San Siro".

Si riferisce a qualcuno in particolare?
"Non faccio nomi perché non va bene, ma dico solo che San Siro non è per tutti. E ci sono giocatori che non hanno il talento, la classe per farlo. Ecco, bisogna intuire quali giocatori possono giocare e quali no".

Lei parlava di identità: in molti evidenziano come il peccato originale sia stato l'allontanamento di Paolo Maldini
"Maldini è una figura che manca ed è un peccato. Perché ha scritto la storia e ha la cultura milanista. Questo è il punto: serve gente che abbia la cultura del Milan. Gente come lui che le può inculcare grazie al suo senso di appartenenza, all'identità, al suo vissuto, a quello che ha contribuito a scrivere".

Il suo Milan visse due anni terribili tra il 1996 e il 1998: un undicesimo e un decimo posto nonostante l'indubbia qualità della rosa. Nell'estate del 1998 avete rivoluzionato la squadra ed è arrivato lo scudetto
"Facemmo una scelta di rottura con Zaccheroni che giocava a 3, dopo che il Milan ha sempre giocato a 4 dietro. Ma al di là dei moduli, serve che un allenatore abbia la capacità di uscire dall'impasse con un guizzo, con una trovata. Ancelotti, ad esempio, si inventò Pirlo davanti alla difesa. L'allenatore deve saper sviluppare situazioni nuove, perché il calcio è in movimento continuo, non è statico".

Conceiçao sembra essere in grossa difficoltà
"Non mi permetto di giudicarlo. Sa di aver commesso qualche errore, come normale che sia. Il punto è riuscire a trovare le soluzioni. Ed è quello che gli auguro, per il bene suo e del Milan. Purtroppo quest'anno si soffre, l'annata è deludente".

In chiusura: i tifosi hanno contestato la proprietà anche a Bologna, sin dalle prime battute dell'incontro. I fatti dicono che dall'addio di Berlusconi il Milan ha vinto solo un campionato
"Uomini come Berlusconi sono di un livello tale che sostituirli è difficile. Oggi uno può anche avere l'ambizione, però non basta".

But I will say that the team must be rebuilt through a sense of belonging. It might sound trivial, but it’s something truly important. If you don’t have certain values, everything falls apart."

Are you referring to the management or the team?
"I am referring to the entire environment as a whole, from the top of the hierarchy to the very base of the pyramid. Milan has a great history, a great past. After Real Madrid, they are the club that has won the most Champions League titles. You have to understand what it means to wear this jersey, the responsibility of representing this club. The great Milan built its success through a strong sense of belonging and a clear identity."

Just a year ago, Milan finished second.
"Crises happen to everyone. Look at Manchester City. The difference lies in the ability to find solutions. In this regard, Milan lacks the necessary experience. Experience is important—maybe not the most important thing, but it certainly helps. And it's something you can’t buy."

Do Ibrahimovic and Moncada need an experienced figure to support them?
"In a few years, they will be much better than they are now. But they need to understand what Milan truly is. Mistakes happen to everyone, but you also need the talent to recognize who can play at San Siro and who cannot."

Are you referring to anyone in particular?
"I won’t mention names because that wouldn’t be right. But I will just say that San Siro is not for everyone. There are players who simply don’t have the talent or class to play there. You need to identify which players can handle it and which cannot."

Speaking of identity, many believe the original mistake was parting ways with Paolo Maldini.
"Maldini is a missing figure, and that’s a shame. He wrote history and embodies Milan’s culture. That’s the key point: Milan needs people who truly understand its culture. Someone like him, who can instill those values thanks to his sense of belonging, his identity, his experience, and everything he contributed to the club’s legacy."

Your Milan went through two terrible years between 1996 and 1998, finishing 11th and 10th despite having a high-quality squad. In the summer of 1998, you revolutionized the team, and the following season you won the Scudetto.
"We made a radical choice with Zaccheroni, who played with a three-man defense when Milan had always played with four at the back. But beyond formations, a coach must have the ability to break out of a crisis with a spark, a clever idea. Ancelotti, for example, transformed Pirlo into a deep-lying playmaker.
