Entriamo nel dettaglio delle parole di Boban durante l'ottima intervista di Andrea Longoni. Di seguito, un estratto sulle parole riguardanti l'attuale presidente del Milan Paolo Scaroni:

“Una persona che non dovrebbe mai essere nel calcio. Non c’entra nulla col calcio. Però sai, certe persone per i poteri che hanno avuto e dalle posizioni che hanno avuto non si sono mai veramente chieste profondamente, non hanno mai creato quella struttura spirituale per chiedersi: ma è giusto che io vada di la? Perché si va ovviamente verso interessi. Ma il Milan?... Non c’entra nulla col Milan. Seppur sia comunque un grande manager, ha avuto grandi successi. Io non ho seguito la sua vita così come lui non ha seguito la mia. Una volta si doveva andare in Lega Calcio e lui non riusciva. Eravamo allo stadio, io gli davo del lei perché lo tenevo abbastanza distante, Maldini gli dice: “Paolo, per Zvone questo è stato il suo pane negli ultimi anni, ha fatto le istituzioni, conosce la Lega, sa fare queste cose”. Poi avevo anche nel contratto questi di doveri di rappresentanza, ma non me ne fregava nulla perché dovevamo sistemare altre cose. E Scaroni fa: “Ok, allora mandami il tuo curriculum…” (ride, ndr)”.

Chiede Longoni: "Ti ha chiesto il curriculum?"

“L’ho mandato a quel paese e l’ho buttato via dall’ufficio. Gli ho detto: “Che cazzo ci fai tu nel calcio?”. Mi ha detto: “Perché dovrei sapere quello che hai fatto tu nella vita?”. Va bene (ride, ndr). Non devi, ma allora neanche io ti devo portare rispetto. Ma l’ha detto in una maniera naturale, neanche rendendosi conto secondo me. Non è che me la sono presa dopo, ma al momento ho reagito prendendo e buttandolo fuori dall’ufficio. Ecco, questo penso di Scaroni”.

“He’s someone who should never be in football. He has nothing to do with football.
But you know, certain people, because of the power and the positions they’ve held, never truly ask themselves—never build that inner awareness to question: Is it really right for me to step into that world?
Because of course, it all goes toward personal interests.
But Milan? He has absolutely nothing to do with Milan.
Sure, he’s a great manager, he’s had big successes. I haven’t followed his life, just as he hasn’t followed mine.
One time, we had to attend a Lega Calcio meeting, and he couldn’t make it. We were at the stadium—I used formal language with him because I kept my distance.
Maldini told him: ‘Paolo, for Zvone this has been his bread and butter in recent years—he’s worked in institutions, he knows the League, he knows how to handle these things.’
I even had those representational duties in my contract, but I didn’t care because we had other matters to fix.
And Scaroni says: ‘Okay, then send me your résumé…’ (laughs).”

Longoni asks: "He really asked you for your résumé?"

“I told him to go to hell and kicked him out of the office. I said, ‘What the hell are you even doing in football?’
And he replied: ‘Why should I know what you’ve done in your life?’
Alright (laughs), you don’t have to—but then I don’t have to respect you either.
But the way he said it, he didn’t even realize what he was saying, in my opinion.
I didn’t hold a grudge afterwards, but in the moment I reacted by throwing him out of the office.
That’s what I think of Scaroni.”
