ALBERTOSI: "QUESTO MILAN COME IL MIO DEL 1977. CONCEICAO? SE VINCE VA CONFERMATO"

Il Milan si prepara a disputare una finale di Coppa Italia che potrebbe dare finalmente un senso a una stagione che, finora, definire deludente è quasi un complimento. Appuntamento fissato per il 14 maggio a Roma, contro una tra Bologna ed Empoli. La Coppa Italia è un trofeo che il club rossonero ha alzato poche volte nella sua storia: l’ultima nel 2003, e prima ancora nel 1977, in una stagione molto simile all’attuale, con il Milan che chiuse il campionato al decimo posto.

Di quella squadra faceva parte Enrico Albertosi, che ha commentato la situazione attuale ai microfoni di Milannews

Albertosi, il Milan si è risvegliato ancora una volta nel derby.
"Un bel Milan, che ha saputo sfruttare le occasioni capitate e ha meritato ampiamente. Ha sicuramente influito il fatto che l’Inter fosse rimaneggiata, lasciando fuori alcuni giocatori in vista della partita di domenica contro la Roma. Ma non credo che l’Inter abbia sottovalutato l’impegno, anche perché aveva l’obiettivo del Triplete. Semplicemente non ha giocato bene, al contrario del Milan."

Una stagione un po’ strana, quella del Milan. Imprevedibile.
"A corrente alternata, non me lo spiego nemmeno io. Mi auguro che sia solo una stagione di transizione, che prepari a stagioni più felici. Credo che i giocatori per fare bene ci siano."

Sul futuro di Sergio Conceiçao: sembra quasi segnato.
"Io invece lo confermerei, se vincesse la Coppa Italia. Sarebbero due trofei in una stagione: chi vince due trofei in una stagione? E poi io vedo un gioco, vedo un metodo. Non si può pensare di risolvere tutto cambiando allenatore ogni anno. Serve continuità."

La Coppa Italia salverebbe la stagione del Milan?
"Nì. Diciamo che siamo sul 5.5."

Analogie con il Milan del 1976/77?
"Ne vedo diverse. Ricordo che fu un’annata particolare: non riuscivamo a giocare bene, eppure in finale contro l’Inter disputammo una partita spettacolare. Avevamo dato tutto per vincere, cosa che non facemmo nel resto della stagione. Un po’ come oggi. I derby sono partite particolari, vanno oltre il contesto della stagione."

Oggi si conoscerà l’avversario in finale: molto probabilmente sarà il Bologna.
"Se sarà così, sarà un osso duro per il Milan. La squadra di Italiano gioca un grande calcio, ha ottenuto risultati importanti. Non credo che il Milan sia favorito, direi piuttosto 50 e 50."

AC Milan is gearing up to play in the Coppa Italia final—a chance to give meaning to a season that, so far, has been underwhelming at best. The match is scheduled for May 14 in Rome, against either Bologna or Empoli. The Coppa Italia is a trophy Milan hasn’t won often—the last time was in 2003, and before that, in 1977, during a similarly turbulent season that ended with a 10th-place league finish.

"It was a good Milan side. They capitalized on their chances and clearly deserved the win. Inter being short-handed certainly had an impact—they rested some players ahead of Sunday’s game against Roma. But I don’t think Inter underestimated the match. They were chasing the Treble. They just didn’t play well, while Milan did."

A strange, unpredictable season for Milan.
"Very inconsistent. I can't explain it either. Hopefully it's just a transitional season paving the way for success. I believe the squad has the quality to do well."

Conceiçao’s future seems already written.
"I would keep him, especially if he wins the Coppa Italia. Two trophies in one season—how many coaches can say that? Plus, I see a playing style, a method. You can’t fix things by changing coaches every year. You need continuity."

Would the Coppa Italia save Milan’s season?
"Sort of. I’d give it a 5.5 out of 10."

Do you see similarities with your Milan from 1976/77?
"Quite a few. That was also a strange year. We didn’t play well during the season, but in the final against Inter, we were brilliant. We gave it everything, which didn’t happen in the rest of the season. It’s a bit like now. Derbies are unique—they transcend the season."

Today we’ll know Milan’s opponent in the final—most likely Bologna.
"If it’s Bologna, it’ll be a tough match. Italiano’s team plays great football and has had a terrific season. I don’t think Milan are favorites. I’d say it’s 50-50."
